Elmer Ireland
dies suddenly
in 73rd year
Elmer Johnston Ireland of
Eilwaid Street, Wingham,
passed away suddenly at the
Wingham arid District Hospital
on Tuesday, December 18. He
was in his 73rd year.
Mr. Ireland was born in
Culross Township on September
25, 1906, and was a son of the late
John Ireland and Amelia
Johnston. He attended Spotton
Business College and worked as a
stenographer in Toronto during
his early adult life. He later
returned to this area where in
1933 he took up farming. He
retired in 1966.
An active participant in church
and community organizations,
Mr. Ireland was past president of
the Huron County Federation of
Agriculture, a member of the
Wingham United Church and the
Wingham Masonic Lodge No. 286,
A.F. & A.M., Wingham.
Left to mourn his death is his
wife, the former Mary Scott of
• East Wawanosh, whom -he
niarried in August of 19351 There
are three surviving sisters, Mrs.
Wilber (Gladys) McKague,
Teesvkiter, Mrs. Lloyd (Grace)
Jasper, Walkerton, and Mrs.
• James (Louise) Johnston, Port'
St. Lucie, Florida; and one
brother, Russell of Laguna
Beach, California.
The late Elmer Ireland rested
at the R. A„,:, Currie and Son
Funeral Home where a Masonic
service was held Thursday
