flurry of activities the past
.several weeks with both curling
events and private Christmas
parties.
' Wingham hosted the District
Three playdowns Dec. 11-13 for
the provincial finals of the
Southern Ontario Ladies Curling
Association. Eleven teams were
entered. They were: Goderich,
Chesley, Paisley, Walkerton,
Listowel, Clinton, Kurtzville,
Durham, Kincardine, Ripley and
Wingham.
The Ripley team won and will
advance to further playdowns in
Kincardine. The winning team is
to be congratulated as it is the
first time . Ripley has been a
member of the SOLCA or entered
in competition.
Wingham was represented by

Listowel took'an eari14 lead but ,was defeated 10-8 by Ripley in a district final of the
southern Ontario Ladies' Curling Association held in Wingham last -week.
SENIOR LADIES
Novas have a strong lead in the
Senior Ladies League and have
43 points to 35 points for second
place Cadillacs.
Cougars are in third place with
33 points, Thunderbirds have 20,
Wildcats have 18 and Toyotas
have 16.
High singles this week were
bowled by S. Langridge, 202, who
was bowling as a spare; M.
Robertson, 183 and R.
Haselgrove, 180.
High doubles were bowled by
M. Robertson, 351; S. Langridge,
348; R. Haselgrove, 305 and E.
Day. 306.
The next Senior Ladies bowling
action will be Jan. 8.
WROXETER MIXED
Verna Edgar had the high
ladies' single in Wroxeter Mixed
play this week with a 272 game.
She won a pizza for having the
high second game.
Earlan Osborn had the high
men's single of 256 and the high
men's triple of 675. Nellie Allan
bowled the 661 ladies' high triple.

with 13 points.

vine was runner-up with a 212
game. Jean King had the top
triple of 786 and Muriel Irvine
had the 593 runner-up triple.

and Muriel Irvine, 212.
SUNDAY MIXED
Haugh's have 27 points and
first place, while Heard's and
Wall's are tied in second with 19
points each.
Hickey's have 16 points,
Ruttan's have 14 and Hoffe's
have 10.
Terry Anger was top man
bowler this week, with a 295
single and 683 triple. Jean King
bowled both the ladies' high
scores, with a 263 single and 700
triple.
Bowling over 200 were: Dan
Martin, 214, 211; Rod Hickey,
221; Linda Henderson, 229; Bill
Wall, 208, 207; Cory Nesbitt, 233;
Ruth Orien, Joyce Carr and Carol
Reid. They played five games
before being eliminated.
The Wingham ladies have a
team" preparing for a seniors
bonspiel to be held in Goderich in
January and two teams are
entered in the Ladies Tankard in
Seaforth in February.
The Silver Broom playdowns
were held in Wingham Sunday,
Dec. 17 with Wiarton defeating
Goderich in two straight games.
Wingham was represented at
the British Consols playdowns in
Harriston this past weekend by
the team of Art Carr, Barry Reid,
Neil Hemingway and Peter
Snow.
Playoffs were. held Dec. 17 for
the m n's draw. The team of Bill

Bender +.d Jim Reeves emerged
as winner over Ted Elliott,
Barry Reid, lin Schenk and
Rob Grove.

Mixed curling were ,:etermined

Keil, with a total of 87 points.
The 6:45 draw winners were
Bill Hanula, Judy Nevery, Don
Kennedy and Sandra Keay, with
79 points. Second place went ,to
Lee Grove, Jane LeVan and Jack
Nevery, with 76 points. 1
The Barry Reid team was the
top team in the 8:15 draw, with
the runner-up team as Wayne
Elston, Shirley Kaufman and Art
Carr, with 77 points.
The team of Len Bailey, Nancy
O'Donohue, Doug McBurney and
Merridy Watt finished first in the
9;45 draw. Second place winners
were Bob Middleton, Karen
Snow, John Gibson and . Vicki
Wild, with 76 points.
Mixed curling will resume in
the New Year.
Congratulations are to be
extended to Dr. Mel Corrin, Dr.
Frank Newland, Dr. Jack
McKim and Dr, Dick Treleaven.
They won the OMA bonspiel held
in Toronto Dec. 7.
All tickets to the New Year's
Eve party have been sold, though
tickets are still available for the
Mayor's- Centennial-'Irevee to be
held at the club New Year's Day.

soon if you plan to attend.
Jitney curling is being planned
for Tuesday, Dec. 26 if enough
interest is shown. Please sign the

their output and now have 4
points.
