sent by the lodge to the United
Nations building in New York.

On behalf of the district Mrs.

brought the meeting to a close.

CHRISTMAS PARTY
Residents of Turnberry
Estates kicked 'off the festive
season with a Christmas party
Friday night. Everyone par-
ticipated in carols; games and'
musical numbers.
The lounge was beautifully
decorated and Santa found `joke'
gifts under the tree for everyone.
The evening was brought to a
close with a smorgasbord lunch.
Sanburns
wed 50 yrs.
Despite heavy snowfall and
bad visibility many friends of Mr.
and Mrs: Mel Sanburn helped the
couple celebrate their 50th
wedding anniversary Sunday.
The party was held at the
Sanburns' RR 1, Bluevale home.
At home for the., agniyersar*,
party were five of their children."
At home were: Edith, Mrs. Max
Quippof RR 3, Wingham; Mabel,
Mrs. Les Jacklin of Wingham;
Isabel, Mrs. George Hislop Jr. of
Howick Township; Jack of
Gorrie and' Charlie of home.
May Thorpe of. Kamloops, B.C.
wasn't able to make it for the
occasion.
,Neighbors helped the couple
celebrate last . week when they
went to the Sanburn house one
. evening.
Friends and relati\ es from
Fordwich, Wroxeter, 'luevale,
Wingham and Gorrie were at the
anniversary party. Sunday.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Sanburn are
quite active, as she does the
housekeepjng and he does chores.
Because of the snow and ice in
the winter, Mr. Sanburn walks
daily to their otherfarm two
farnis down the road and
manages the cattle.
Besides the six children; the
Sanburns have 19 grandchildren.

William Kinahan, a 54 -year-old
Lucknow insurance salesman,
was acclaimed chairman of the
Huron -Perth Roman Catholic
Separate School Board at its
inaugural meeting in Dublin Dec.
4.
Mr. Kinahan, who succeeds
Donald Crowley of RR 2, Gadshill
as chairman, represents the
townships of Ashfield, Colborne
and East and West Wawanosh.

A candlelight ceremony
solemnized in Ethel United
Church at seven o'clock on
Saturday, December 2, united in
marriage Donna Patricia Forler
and Donald Terry Bateman, both
of Beamsville. Parents of the
bride are Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Forler, RR 1, Clifford. The groom
is the son of Mrs. Donald
Bateman of Ethel and the late
Mr. Bateman.
Floyd Herman was the
organist throughout the
ceremony. The bride was at-
tended by Miss Brenda Nethery
of Blyth as maid of honor and
bridesmaids were Susan
Clements of Petrolia and Beverly
Ward, Monkton.
Greg Cardiff, friend of the
groom, of Brussels was
groomsman .'and guests _ were
ushered by Richard Forler,
cousin of the bride, and Joe
Hanna, cousin of the groom.
Following the ceremony, a
reception was held at the
Belmore Community Centre:
Following a honeymoon at
Niagara Falls, the couple will
.reside in Bearnsville.
The bride attended the F.. E.
Madill Secondary School in
Wingham.

BLUEVALE—A new Bible was
presented by the Sunday School
of the United Church to the
congregation of the church, to be
placed on the new Bible stand. It
Was presented during the Sunday
morning worship service by
Sunday School superintendent
Harold Johnston. Rev. Wilena
Brown dedicated the new Bible to
the glory of God and it was.
received ^ by W. J. Peacock,
member of the session, on behalf
of the congregation.
During the service, the second.
Advent candle was lit after
scripture reading from the new
Bible. Miss Brown's sermon title
was "Light in the Dark".
The children and teachers are
preparing a. Sunday School
concert to be presented on
Sunday afternoon, December 17,
at 3. A special carol and story
•time will be held in the church on
Christmas Eve.
SOTH ANN IVERSAR' Mr. and Mrs. Mel Sanburn, RR 1, Bluevale celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary Sunday. They received numerous cards and gifts from friends and
are shown looking over some of them. The couple also received a sofa in honor of their 50
years together.

The board hired John Mc,
Cauley, 34, of Woodstock, to
replace Joseph Mills as
superintendent of education. He
will commence his position Jan. 1
at a salary of $33,000.
In other business the board
named the firm of Donnelly and
Murphy of Goderich as board '
solicitors and passed a borrowing
bylaw for $2.5 million. The bylaw
will allow the board to do day to
day business during the coming
year.
The board made no decision
after hearing a presentation by
Dr. Roger Eickmeier and hih
wife Marie about busing for their
two children.
The family lives on Sideroad
