STRONG SCORES SEVEN
Robbie Strong scored seven
goals to pace the Legion Pee
Wees to a 12-2 victory over
Clinton last week. Strong has now
scored 24 goals in 12 games—
quite a pace. Another highlight of
the game was a picture passing
play from Cameron to Jenkins
and back to Caineron which
resulted in a goal.
Clinton opened the scoring in
the first period and later led 2-1,
but from then on it was all
Wingham. Wingham scoring
came from Strong, with seven,
Nicholson, with two, and
Stephenson, Cameron and Bray.
Cameron had four assists while
Nicholson, Foxton and Jenkins
had two each and Dennis had one.
Clinton scoring was by Cantelon
and Dupee.
Earlier in the week Wingham
downed Seaforth by an 8-2. score.
Strong got two goals in that game
and singles were scored by
Jenkins, Brown, Fokton,
Cameron, Robinson and Bray.
Forest goaltender Ralph Reeves

Although it is unusual to be still
golfing in late November, a
foursome of Harry Garniss,
Harry Elliott, Omar Haselgrove
and Jack Sturdy could still be
seen on the course last week. Golf
• members are reminded to
remove their clubs from the
storage shed by the end of the
month as the shed has been spld.
Recently Frank Madill', a
member of the board of direc-
tors, and some helpers planted
trees on the course.
Club manager Muriel has all
the golf supplies stored away, but
curling supplies are on display.
The Pro Shop is well stocked with
curling equipment for Christmas
shopping.
Curling is now in its fourth
week and Ice Chairman Al
Williams reports the ice is in
great shape. Monday saw the
start of Farmers' 'Curling with
110 enthusiastic curlers. There
are three draws on Monday and
Thursday afternoons.
On Tuesday afternoons 'the
ladies take over the ice with two
draws in play. Skips Joyce
Hodgins, Ruth Orien and Ethel
Gerrie all are tied with the same
number of points. Hopefully this
will change this week. There are
no playoffs in the ladies' division
before Christmas. The ladies are
reminded there will be no regular
curling on Tuesday, Dec. 12, as
the Ladies' Provincial playoffs
for our district will be held here.
Our club has a team practising to
take part in this event. Ap-
parently a team of men gave it
some stiff conipetition the other
night! On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the
ladies will have their last regular
game of curling before Christ-
mas.
Monday evenings the men's
division plays two draws, one at 7
and the other at 9 p.m. There is
still room for a few more men.ekt
press time a team skipped by Ted
Elliott was on top. The Silver
Broom competition for men will
be held in Wingham Sunday, Dec.

gap to 4-2 early in the final frame
on a goal by Gary Williamson.
Both teams played exciting, end-
to-end hockey and at 15:32
Williamson brought Mount
Forest to within one. They
pressed hard for the equalizer,
but with less than a minute and a
half remaining Al Dickson of the
Royals broke loose and scored
unassisted to provide the
necessary insurance and the
Royals went on to preserve the 5-
3 victory.
FROM THE- STANDSeeTtie-
Royals continue to play
superlatively on home ice. Their
record stands at two wins, one
loss and one tie at home while
they remain winless on the road.
This game ewes one of the most
physical of the season as Mount
Forest picked up 55 minutes in
penalties and the Royals added
37.
The next home game for the
Royals is this Saturday night,
Dec. 2, when they face the
Goderich Sailors at 8:30.

Hal Rogers, founder of the
Association of Kinsmen Clubs,
was made an officer of the Order
of Canada during a ceremony at
Government House in Ottawa
last month. The award was
presented by Governor General
Jules Leger.
This honor. was an unusual one
as a person is normally admitted
to the order as a member and
only later moved up to the rank of
officer or companion.
The Association of Kinsmen
Clubs, now the largest national
service club in Canada, con-
tributed more than $43.5 million

ONE MORE GOAL—The Wingham Legion PeeWees haven't had much trouble with their
competition se) far this season and their Nov. 23 match with Clinton was fairly typical. The
score was 12-2 for Wingham.
Tuesday at 7 p.m. sees a full ice
of mixed curling in play. Bill
Stephenson is presently leading.
At nine o'clock a very new group
of curlers from Blyth is also
playing a full ice. We welcome
them to our club.

are drawn up each night so no one
is obligated to curl each week. It
is hoped more girls will come out
after Christmas. Anyone wishing
further information should

the week. Three complete draws
are being played, beginning with
the Early Birds at 6:45. Many are
curling first and then enjoying
their dinner in the dining room.
Other draws start at 8:15 and the
Night Hawks at 9:45. The draw
committee consisting of Joyce
and Art Carr and John Schenk is
to be complimented on making
upthe draws.
Curlers are reminded to be,
ready to step onto the ice at their
designated times. Latecomers
hold up everyone. Al and Mary
Williams have brought along
some sleigh bells to be used to
signal the starting times and add
an air of Christmas spirit.
The standing, for the Friday
night curlers has the Bill Hanula
rink leading in the 6:45 draw,
with skip Barry Reid leading the
8:15 draw and skip Nick
O'Donohue in front at 9:45.
The curling executive has
looked over all the existing
trophies. The old ones are to be
repaired and used for corn -
petition in the club. It is also
hoped there will be some jitney
curling and a few euchre parties
in the new year. •
Jack Goodall, chairman of the
board of _directors, and his
committee are making plans for
a New Year's Eve dance. More
inf0Mation. about this will be
,given in the very near future. As
