SCIENCE CONFERENCE
On November 2, 3 and 4, Mr.
Raynard and Mr. Stretton went
to a Science Conference in Toron-
to. They attended various work-
shops while they were there and
had a look at new science ideas.
Both teachers teach science
during rotary and found the con-
ference interesting and worth-
while.

SKATING
As in previous years, the
Students' Council is giving
students at Howick Central a
chance to go skating on their gym
days during the winter. The
Students' Council has just com-
pleted a successful fund raising
campaign to pay for the ice time
for school use of the community
centre. We, the students, are
very lucky because the com-
munity centre is right beside the
school. It is only a short walk to
the community centre and we
can enjoy skills taught by Mr.
Livermore. We appreciate very
much what the Students' Council
is doing for us.

HEALTH NURSE
Last week, two health nurses
came to our school. They checked
many of the children's ears and
eyes. Their names are Mrs.
Steepe and Mrs. Kreiger.
They will be coming again soon
to test the kindergarten children
and those who were away. We
hope this type of program helps
clear up any difficulties as a
result of hearing or vision prob-
lems..

GOOD STUDY
METHODS WEEK
Last week was "Good Study
Methods Week" as Kindergarten
to Grade 6 report cards are to go
home 1978, 11, 24.
As you all know, report cards
mean tests! and studying was
going on. A few days ago, Mr.
Robertson came around with
very good ideas about studying.
I'm sure all students studied
withged methods and profitted
from it.
