He got this goal from near the slot area after he got around a Grand Valley defenceman. IRONMEN WIN—Kevin Carter got this goal from the right point in Sunday's Junior D game with Meaford and it proved to be the winner for the Ironmen. The game ended 6-3 for the Ironmen. Sailors down Royals 6-3 The Goderich Sailors struck,for three unanswered goals in the third period and coasted to a 6-3 victory over the Wingham Royals Friday night in Goderich. The. Sailors opened the scoring at the 7:47 mark of the first period or. a goal by Paul Kelly. The Royals tied it at 10:45 of the opening frame when Gary Lisle scored from Russ Jones and Neil Bieman. Both teams were afford- ed plenty of scoring chances throughout the remainder of the period but were unable to capitalize and the teams left the ice tied at one. The Royals struck early in the second period when Brad Klos scored from Jones and Bieman. Goderich got that one back only four minutes later when Scott Park beat Royal goaltender Keith Elston from close range. The team has been unable to salvage a victory away from home although boast- Seaforth downs Wingham' Atoms Seaforth Atoms continued their domination over Wingham Atoms Saturday, downing ing- ham 10-5 in a hard fought game in Seaforth. Wingham opened the scoring in the first period, with Greg Walton denting the twine with the first of his four goals during the game. Assists on the goal went to Jason Goodall and Jamie Robinson. Walton made the score two to nothing for Wingham on an un- assisted play two minutes later. Pryceof Seaforth scored just be- fore the bell sounded to end the first period 2-1 for Wingham. In the second period Seaforth scored three unanswered goals, with Betties scoring twice and Pryce scoring his second of the evening. Seaforth continued to dominate in the third period, with Driscoll scoring once and Murray twice before Robert Leedham scored for Wingham. Assists on Leedham's goal went to Billy Cameron and Jason Goodall. Driscoll scored twice' more, with Pryce adding Seaforth's final tally. Walton scored twice more near the end of the period for Wingham, with assists going to Jeff Walden and Jason Good- all. Brownie Corner By Debbie Hodgins First we played a game called `Peter Pan and Captain Hook'. We were then divided into our Sixes. We collected our dues and checked the attendance. Then Group A played games with laundry symbols; Group B sewed on buttons with the help of Mrs. D. E. Cameron, Mrs. J. Clark, Mrs. R. O'Hagan and Mrs. H. Thynne; Group C discussed the badge 'Friend to Birds' and the Tweenies learned the Grand Howl and the meaning of a Brownie smile and good turn. Janette Taylor and Archita Ghosh did Brownies in other lands. The Brownies who earned badges were Archita Ghosh, Knitter; Robin Greenall, House- keeper; and Lisa Ritchie, Craft. During Pow Wow we talked about the Christmas Jamboree on Dec. 2 in Lucknow. 'Ile girls of the 1st Lucknow Ranger Co. are having a party for all the Brownies in Lucknow, Wingham and Teeswater. With a minute and twelve seconds left to play in the period, Kevin Carter scored on the powerplay as he slammed home a shot after Scott Wheeler won the face-off. The period ended with the Ironmen up 4 -2 - In the period Wingham had a goal disallowed when the referee lost sight of the puck. The whistle had been blown before the puck entered the net. Gord Kinahan worked . hard in the corner ne- covering the puck and moved to the left side of the net. He tried to poke the puck past Walpole and when the puck did come loose the referee had ruled the play dead and the tip -in was disallowed. With two seconds remaining in the period, Carter slammed one off the goal post. The rebound went wide of the net and the period ended with Wingham aving the two goal edge. In the third the Ironmen con- tinued to apply great pressure nd, at the 3:41 mark, increased their lead to 5-2 when Kevin Carter moved to the corner of the onarch net and passed to Jim lackwell, who fired a wrist shot past the downed goalie.
