"The Royal Homes factory in
Turnberry Township won't be
getting a bargain on water rates
any more, township council
decided at. its Dec. 6 meeting.
Wingham PUC supplies water
to the factory, but bills Turnberry
for the water. The township •in.
turn has billed Royal HomeS $aoo
a year since the agrreernent was
made in 1972. However the' town-
ship paid the PUC $450 iw. 1974,
$450 in 1975, $450 in 1976 ,and $600
for water for the plant fu 1977.
Turnberry councilpassed a
motion ordering, that Royal
Hones be invoiced for the differ-
ence between the real water rates
and the flat rate of $300 a year
paid since 1972 arid that In the fu-
ture Royal Homes - be billed
directly.
The township will be expected
to finance the advert part of the
Bryce,Drain,.a letter from Gams -
by and Mannerow Ltd. told
council. Three differentcontrac-
tors may be working on the pro-
ject, as the culvert installation
work may be under a separate
.contract from the open and
closed "work. '
, The Bryce Drain court of revi-
sion will be held Jan. 20 at 1:30
p.m. Landowners who may bene-
fit from the drain will have a.
chance to appeal their share of
the project's cost. Bryce Drain
by-laws will be mailed this week.
A Gamsby and Mannerow in-
voice for $774.45 for engineering
services on the Duncan Street
Drain, brought up the question of
'whether landowners affected by
the drain should pay the
engineering fee. Council will get
advice before proceeding.
A swamp teatment contract
tender for the B -Line develop-
ment road was awarded to
Reeves Construction and a
$244,044.50 tender for the B -Line
bridge, contract was awarded to
Owen King Construction.

received for a position as par -
time road erndlawee for the town-
ship. Council passed a motion,
hiring Goldie Galloway at $4.25
an hour.
Turnberry council gave first,
second and thl" d reading to a mo-
tion to close the lower town
bridge, subject to solicitors' ap-
proval.
Building permits for construe-
tion totalling $22,500 were ap-

were issued to G. C. and Jim Mof-
fat, RR 1, Wingham, for an im-
plement shed to cost $10,000; to

Council passed a motion asking
that Marie Walker make a new
sign for Turnberry dump and that
Councillor Ben Malda purchase a
new gate for the dump.
From correspondence items,
council endorsed a County of
Huron letter proposing that the
county administer senior citizen
housing and that all county
r
municipalities contribute to the
plan. The municipalities would
pick up the 7.5 per cent operating
deficit in any year. In return the
county would allow seniors ad-
mission to any senior citizen
housing unit in the county.
Council also gave their ap-
proval to a letter from the Huron
County Board of Education and
the Huron -Perth Separate School

fol payment of rates be set.
These would be June 30 and Dec.

UP SHE RISES—The first of the semi-detached housing units planned or the Maitland
Estates development began taking shape last week as the upper storeys were hoisted into
place by crane. In a method of construction being pioneered by Royal Homes, Wingham,
the lower floor is erected on site from components built in the factory and then the two
halves of the upper level, completely finished in the factory, are lifted into position and
fastened together.
