St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church, Wingham, was the scene
of a pretty late summer wedding
when vows were exchanged by
Joan Johnston of Wingham and
Rick Smith, RR 1, Ripley. Rev.
R. H. Armstrong performed the
evening double -ring ceremony on
Friday, September 2, in a setting
of lighted tapers in candelabra
adorned with blue carnations and
white daisies. Large white bows,
centred with blue carnations,
marked the guest pews and
bouquets of baby's breath sur-
rounded the altar.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Keith Johnston of Wingham
and the late Mr. Johnston.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and
Mrs. Wes Smith, RR 1, Ripley.
Given in marriage by her
brother, Len Johnston of Mark -
dale, the bride was gowned in
sheer lace over white polyester
crepe. The dress• featured an em-
pire waistline, stand-up collar
and long full sheer sleeves
gathered onto wide buttoned
cuffs. A full train extended from
the hemline of the flowing sldl'L
and a band of flowers MOWN*
held her shoulder -length 've 1. SO
carried an arm bouclwit pf red
roses.
Mrs. Ann Johnston, Markdale;
sister-in-law of the bride, was
matron of honor, wearing a gown
of similar style to the bridal, gown
in light blue polyester crepe
flocked with white flowers. The
empire waistline was trimmed
with blue velvet ribbon with a
tiny bow at the centre front. -She
carried a bouquet of white daisies
and blue carnations.
In similar ensembles were the
bridesmaids, Miss Joyce Black of
RR 1, Ripley and Mrs. Julie Mc-
Guire, RR 5, Lucknow, both
friends of the bride, and the
groom's sister, Miss Mary Marg-
aret Smith, RR 1, Ripley.
Junior bridesmaids were
sisters of the bridal couple,
Sherry Lynn .Johnston of Wing -
ham and Barbara Smith, RR 1,
Ripley. Their gowns were deisti-
cal to those of the senior at-
tendants but the skirts were

bridal party wore blue tuxedos
with velvet trim, matching vests,
and white ruffled shirts trimmed
with blue,
The organist, Miss Mary Ellen
Havens of Lucknow, accom-
panied the soloist, Doug Inglis of
Clifford.
The head table was centred
with a three -tiered wedding cake
decorated with blue daisies and
topped with white doves for the
reception which followed in the
Wingham Legion Hall. The bridal
bouquets surrounded the cake.
The bride's mother chose a sky
blue gown of polyester crepe with
a flowered sheer jacket and a
corsage of yellow roses. The
groom's mother chose a gown of
pink crepe topped with a pink
sheer cape. Her corsage was
white gardenias.
For travelling to the Thousand
Islands and points east, the bride
changed to a green street -length
dress with contrasting scarf. Her
corsage was a finger ring of red
roses.
The couple will reside on the
groom's farm, RR 1, Ripley.
Honored guests were the
groom's grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Oliver Smith, RR 1, Ripley;
the bride's grandmothers, Mrs.
Mark Johnston of Lucknow and
Mrs. Robert Powell, Wingham;
and a special friend of the bride's
family, Mrs. William `Eadie of
Wingham, formerly. of Holyrood.
Prior toher marriage, the
bride was honored at several
showers: Relative showers were
held at, the home of her grand-
mother. Mrs. Robert Powell, and "
at ,the groom's residence where
his aunt, Mrs. Murial Newton of
Brampton, was hostess. Showers
were also hosted by'Mrs. 'Lorna
McMinn and Mrs. Bev Hayden,
both of Wingham, and Mrs. Julie
McGuire, RR 5, Lucknow. An
engageinent party was held for
Rick and Joan at the home of
John and Barb Gamble, RR 4,

Couple resides near Lucknow
following Chepstow ceremony
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Wayne
Morrison are residing at RR 5,
Lucknow, following their mar-
riage Friday, September 9, at six
o'clock in 'Mary Immaculate
Roman Catholic Church, ' Chep-
stow. White gladioli surrounded
the altar where Father Cullaton
pronounced the couple husband
and wife. Organist Miss Colleen
O'Hagan provided suitable wed-
ding music, and,accompanied the
Chepstow Choir members as they.
sang The Wedding Song, "I'll
Never Find Another You" and
"We've Only Just Begun".
Mrs: Morrison 'is' the former
Sharon Ann Graf, daughter. of
Mrs. Dorothy Graf of RR 1, Chep-
stow, and the late Jacob Graf.
Candlelight ceremony
unites Wingham couple
Two Wingham young people,
Gail Remington and Rae Robin-
son, exchanged marriage vows in
a deuble-ring ceremony solem-
nized on Saturday, September 3,
at 3:30 at St. An'drew's Presby-
terian Church. Rev. Robert H.
Armstrong heard the couple's
vows and pronounced them one in
a candlelight setting enhanced
with peach colored' gladioli.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Remington and
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Robinson,
all of Wingham.
Mrs. Don Robertson was
organist and accompanied Mrs.
Charles Lee as she sang "I Can't
Help Falling in Love With You"
and "Sunrise, Sunset".
Mr. and Mrs. Remington gave
their daughter in marriage. She
chose a snow white pure crystal
gown imported from London,
England, and styled with V neck-
line, empire waistline, ldng
bishop -sleeves gathered into wide
cuffs and floating skirt with a
hemline flounce which fell into a

length veil trimmed with daisies
and she carried a basket of peach,
gladioli and baby's breath.
Dressed identically were her
four senior attendants, Mrs. Joan
Gibson, sister of the bride; of
Orangeville, as matron of honor;
Mrs. Faye Remington, her sister-
in-law, Miss Christine Rae and
Mrs. Trudy Leitch, all of Wing -
ham. Their floor -length gowns'
were peach polyester knit with
matching capes. All the girls
wore white picture hats with a
flower adorning each hat. They
carried baskets of flowers simi-
lar to those carried by the bride.
Heather Crake of Wasaga
Beach was flower girl, gowned in
a peach empire styled floor -
.length dress trimmed with
flowered lace. She also carried a
basket of peach colored flowers.
Groomsman was Bill Deans,
Wingham, and ushering guests
were the bride's brother, Bob
Remington of Wingham, Dqug
Leitch, Wingham, and Ron Mc-
Kague, Walkerton. The male
members of the wedding party
wore navy blue tuxedos with
velvet t4nn and blue ruffled
shirts. Tlf$ir boutonnieres were
peach colored gladioli.
Billy Dainty of Whitby was ring
bearer.
Out-of-town guests from Mont-
real, Toronto, Whitby, Petewawa
and Kitchener attended the wed-
ding and the reception which fol-
lowed at the Wingham Legion
Hall. Honored guests were Mr.
and Mrs. Stuart McBurney and
Mrs. Katherine Robinson, grand-
parents of the groom.
The bride's mother were a
floor -length gown of soft tur-
quoise fine crepe with a matching
sheer cape. Her corsage was
peach Sweetheart roses. The
groom's mother chose a floor -
length gown of mint green
polyester chiffon with capelet
sleeves and beaded trim. Her
corsage was yellow Sweetheart
roses.
.For travelling to Niagara Falls
the bride wore a white street -
length empire -styled dress with
navy jacket and shoes.
Mr. and Mrs. Robinson are re-
siding at t40 Park Drive, Wing -
ham.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and
Mrs. John E. Morrison, RR 5,
Lucknow.
Given in marriage by her

length gown of white polyester
jersey. The dress had long angel
sleeves and a V neckline trimmed
corsage of small pink roses.
Assisting, the groom's mother
chose a floor -length gown of navy
and white with long sleeves and a
corsage of 'small white and red
roses.
For travelling to Northern On-
tario, the bride wore a short light
blue dress with a corsage of white
carnations.
Out-of-town guests attending
the wedding included Mr. and
Mrs. James A. Morrison and Ron
Morrison, all of Essex; Mr. and
Mrs. Pat McCormick off Detrojt

Mrs. Herson Irwin were received
into the membership of the Wing-
hamaJnited Church on SundaY
morning when the sacrament of
Holy Communion was observed.
Rev. Barry Passmore Conducted
the service. The junior choir sang
"Wedding Banquet" and the
senior choir sang "God So Loved
the World".

this week attending the Inter-
national Plowing Match and
Farm Machinery Show near
Kingston where an unco-opera-
tive weatherman has delighted
the mud -pie enthusiast but
created havric for the plowman.
Huron County residents hope he
is marking his 1978 calendar with
