Chalmers WMS speaker
stresses merits of Bible
WHITECHURCH — The Bible,
a 'book which stands alone with
never another book like it', was
the topic of a talk given by Mrs.
Victor Emerson when the June
meeting of Chalmers Women's
Missionary Society was held on
Wednesday of last week at the
home of Mrs. Don . Ross.
Mrs. Emerson urged her listen-
ers to believe the words of the
Gospels of Jesus Christ. "Do not
trouble yourselves with questions
on the book of Genesis or difficul-
ties suggestecbby Revelation,"
she said
She said that no other book can
compare with the Bible's influ-
ence on mankind and uplifting of
humanity. Though it has been
ridiculed and people have been.
forbidden to read it, it is still re-
spected and by many people read
daily for a lifetime. "The mes-
sage of no other book will so re-
lieve and exalt a person,'.' Mrs.
Emerson said. "May God grant
that you read the Bible to be wise,
believe it to be safe and practise
it to be holy."
Mrs. Emerson also gave the
call to worship and extended, a
welcome to all. She read scrip-
ture from the ninth chapter of
Mark's Gospel and delivered a
brief meditation. She stressed
that greater deeds are by men
when they are not concerned
about getting credit for them and
the greatest deeds come when we
are anxious that God should re-
ceive the glory.
