Entry forms are available
from schools and track and.
field clubs for the seventh
Gnnual Colgate Women's
ames to be held in
Etobicoke on June 16 and 17.
The deadline for entries is
May 20.
This event, open to
females 10 years of age and
older, has grown to become
the largest female track and
field meet in Canada. It
attempts to increase par-
ticipation in sports at the
grassroots level by offering a
two-day meet in which
youngsters and veterans
alike can compete at their
own age levels.
Younger athletes are then
able to mingle and discuss
training tips with older,
more experienced and
better-known competitors.
With no entry fee, a free T-
shirt to all entrants, tote
bags to all finalists and
medals and grants in aid of
education to all athletes
finishing in the top three of
their events, the Colgate
Games offer something for
every competitor.
Diane Jones-Konihowski of
Saskatoon will once again
take part in the games as
Mistress of Ceremonies. The
former- Pan -Am and Com-
monwealth pentathlon
champion is extremely
popular with the youngsters,
who are always thrilled to
meet someone who has
competed as one of the best
in the world.
