The Wingham Ironmen
emerged from a shoot-out in
the first gameof their group
final series against Port
Elgin Bears with an 8-6 win.
It was .a goaltender's
nightmare as they fell victim
to deflections, screens and
some strange bounces.
Kevin Coultes, Troy
Pocaluyko and Jim LeGrand r
returned to the Port Elgin
zone and mounted good
pressure, resulting in the
first goal. Troy Pocaluyko
slid the puck under the pad of
Todd Root after he had made
..the initial stop.
Kevin Coultes then stole
the puck behind the Port
Elgin goal as Root
misplayed it. Coultes
scooped up the puck, skated

rush by linemate Brian

Recreation Report
Both goalies were spec-
tacular, time after time. The
win was earned with an all-
out effort by every Royal
every time he hit the ice. It
was close -checking and at
tames a little chippy, but
certainly not lacking in
excitement.
Rick MacLennan was on
the move at full throttle for
the Royals and was
rewarded for his efforts with
a goal and an assist. Rick
Jacklin saw a lot of ice time
and did a superb job as
general in command of the
blueline brigade, clearing
the puck out of harm's way
time after time and being
especially effective when the
Royals played shorthanded.
Once again Midget Jeff
Bloemberg was back with
the big boys, playing with
polished poise and for an
encore he fired the big goal,
the winner. It was nice to see
Murray Baier back in action
after a leg injury. Royal
