with Leadership Award for
coaching cross-country
By JIM BROWN
The Advance -Times
Maureen Lisle of F.E. Madill
Secondary School in Wingham was
recently honored by the Ontario
Federation of School Athletic Asso-
ciations (OFSAA).
During the All -Ontario . high
school cross-country running cham-
pionships, held in London earlier
this month, Lisle was presented
with the OFSAA Leadership
Award.
Lisle said the award is presented
to a teacher/coach for their exem-
plary leadership in sports. Although
the award was presented at the pro-
vincial cross-country champion-
/
ship, it was also noted that she has
been a leader in coaching track and
field as well.
She has been coaching the cross-
country running team at Madill
since 1984. She has also been
coaching track and field for 20
years.
Before coaching cross-country
running, Lisle coached basketball
for 10 years, three years at Queens
University and seven years at Ma-
dill. She also coached gymnastics
for five years.
As welt as coaching, she has also
convened competitions. Lisle has
been convenor for the Huron -Perth
cross-country championships for
WINGHAIA
the past eight years.
She has also convened the WOS-
SA cross-country championship the
past two years. She has also been
convenor for WOSSA track and
field on two occasions, and was
convenor for the OFSAA west re-
gional track and field meet on one
occasion.
Lisle said there are a lot of sup-
portive coaches, teachers, and stu-
dents at Madill who help out during
the meets hosted by the Wingham
high school. Husband Gary is also
quite involved in with coaching.
"There is a really good support
group among the teachers," said

Here Are The Facts;
Almost 9 of out of 10 homes in southwestern Ontario with access
to gas, heat their homes with natural gas. As natural gas becomes available
to more households, more oil and electric home owners are realizing the
energy and money saving benefits of converting to natural gas.
Replacing an oil, electric or propane system to high -efficiency natural gas
could save you up to 64%* on your residential heating bills.
Natural gas is cleaner and can be less harmful to the environment than
any other fossil fuel. You may not realize it, but natural gas can
significantly reduce harmful CO2 emissions.
_ Natural gas will save you more than money and energy. You'll also have
more space when you get rid of your old oil tank
