Team members include (front) Adam Lawrence, John Martin, Andrew Exel, Matthew Smith, Ean Moffat, and Gabe Stewart; (back) coach Audrey Bos, Jeff. Martin, Cory Bragg, Mi- chael Nolan, Steve Carter, Patrick Nolan, Kevin Schill, and manager Kristen O'Neill. Absent are Tom Collins and Greg Montgomery. Madill captures WOSSA Madill Mustangs captured the WOSSA junior boys volleyball championship on the weekend. The junior Mustangs needed three games to get past London Laurier in the final. After getting past Huron County rival South Huron Panthers of Ex- eter in the semi-final in two straight, 15-2 and 15-4, the junior Mustangs went up against the London school. The Laurier Rams defeated London Oakridge Oaks in a three -game match that lasted over an hour. After winning the first game of the championship final, 15-13, the junior Mustangs fell 15-10 in the second game. In the deciding game, Madill was down 12-8 at one• stage of the game, but rallied to post a 15-13 win and the WOS- SA junior title. In their opening match of the tournament, played at Arthur Voaden Secondary School in St. Thomas, the Mustangs downed Medway of Arva 15-4 and 15-4. In their second match, the junior Mustangs faced Laurier and post- ed a pair of 16-14 victories. The Mustangs went up against St. Pat's in their third match and won 15-8 and 15-11 to clinch first place in their pool. St. Pat's had earlier defeated the junior Mus- tangs this season. In their final match of the round-robin, Madill coach Audrey Bos used a rookie line-up,and af- ter winning the first game against Woodstock College Avenue 15-8, dropped the second game 7-15. Three division champs decided in Rockers Oldtimers tourney Maple City Oldtimers from Chatham scored a 7-2 decision over the Waterloo Aging Bulls to win the. Labatt Blue division of the Wingham Rockers oldtimers hock- ey tournament held at the Lock - ridge Memorial Arena on the weekend. Art Leitans paced the Maple City offence with two goals and two assists. John Eves collected two goals and Wayne Grey had a goal and two assists. Single mark- ers were added by Bob O'Neil and Vic Charron. Getting the markers for the Ag- ing Bulls were George Belsky and Ron Clarke. Chatham held a 2-0 lead after the first period and were in front 4-1 after two periods of play. Chatham's Gray was the recipi- ent of a Louisville hockey stick for netting the winning goal. Terry Brown of Chatham was the top goalie in the tournament. Brian Duench was the most val- uable player for Waterloo and Scott Herbert was the MVP for Chatham. Shooter Duench and goalie Greg Cyboski of Waterloo were the division shoot-out winners. Bay City Oldtimers claimed the Labatt 50 division title by down- ing the Kincardine Oldstars 4-1. Kincardine led 1-0 after the first period, but Bay City took a 2-1. lead in the middle period and add- ed two more unanswered goals in the final period. John Kalotinis .and Mark Ry- zycki had one goal and one assist each for tay City with Ernie Tay- lor and Wayne Chrysler netted sin- gle markers. Taylor was the recipient of a Louisville hockey stick for scoring the winning goal. Kelly Philips was the lone goal getter for Kincardine. Kincardine received the fair 'play award for picking up the least penalties during the round-robin. Chrysler was the MVP for Bay City and Philips was the most val- WiDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2e, 1805 Hockey Mustangs lose in tourney final The Madill Mustangs boys hockey team travelled to Lindsay on Thursday to compete in the Sir Sanford Fleming Challenge Cup tournament. Madill went undefeated in their pool play and went up against Cresswood of Peterborough in the championship final. The Mustangs played a good game, but ended up on the short side of a 3-0 final score. The Mustangs opened the tour- nament against Pine Ridge and posted a 1-0 decision on a goal by Joel Pegg, with help from Craig Moffat. In their second game, Madill went up against Henry Sant and again came out on top, with a 7-3 win. Getting the markers for the Mustangs were Mark Wilson and Jeff Porter with two each, and sin- gles by Dave Greig, Troy Dos - man, and Ean Moffat. The Mustangs went up against St. Matthew in their third game uable player for Kincardine. Bay City won the division shoot-out with shooter Crysler and goalie John Sharpe. Evies Owen Sound Oldtimers took a 2-0 lead in the first period and never looked back as they posted a 5-0 decision over the Lu - can Classics to win the Labatt, Crystal division title. Randy McMillen had two goals. and an assist for Owen Sound with singles added by Gerry Blair, Tom White, and Mark Kazarian. Gord Harris recorded the shut out. McMillen received the Louis- ville hockey stick for scoring the first goal of the game. Bill Sheppard was the Owen Sound most valuable player and Dean Densmore was the MVP for Lucan. Lucan won the division shoot- out title with shooter Paul Medd and netminder Kevin Lightfoot. Bob Foxton of Wingham was the 50-50 draw winner of $274. Lancers comeback to beat Monarchs After suffering a 4-3 setback to Teeswater Falcons Saturday eve- ning, the Lucknow Lancers recov- ered to score a 6-4 decision over the Mildmay Monarchs Sunday af- ternoon in WOAA Senior 'B' Legion Pee Wees tie Ripley The Wingham Legion Pee Wee As hosted Ripley on Thursday, and although they led most of the way they had to hang on in the late going and had to settle for a 4-4 draw. Jamie Chester was top marks- man for the Pee Wee As with a goal and an assist. Zack O'Krafka, Andrew Laing, and Kent Readman added the other Wingham goals. Joel Leitch was in the net for Wingham, and had a busy evening particularly in the final frame as Wingham was outshot 11-1 as they squandered a two -goal lead and settled for the tie. The Pee Wee As travel to Sea - forth on Saturday, then compete in the Shelburne tourney on Sunday, playing Goderich in their first game. Gold medal...A Canadian Figure Skating Association gold dance medal and bars was presented to Jenni Kerr, right, by her skating coach Michelle Blake for completing her gold dances at the Wingham Spring Skating School. Trailing 2-1 after the first peri- od, the Lancers scored three unan- swered second period goals to take a 4-2 advantage into the third peri- od. Brad Priestap paced the Lancers offence with a two -goal effort. Single markers were added by Dale Priestap, MikeWhitcroft, Jeff Nesbitt and Steve Simpson. Scoring for Mildmay were Greg Fritz, Joe Zettler, Blain Ohlm, and Barry Haney. Playing the Teeswater-Culross Memorial Community Centre on Saturday, the Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the first period and were ahead 4-1 going into the final peri- od. The Lancers scored the only two goals of the third period, but were unable to get the equalizer. Troy Fischer, Jason Daw, Shawn Fischer, and Kyle Cronin did the scoring for Teeswater, with Jason Wallace picking up three as- sists. Replying for the Lancers were Brad Murray, Stan Kikkert, and Chris Irwin. The Lancers travel to Lions Head on Friday for an 8:30 p.m. game against the Northstars. The Lancers play host to the Dundalk Flyers on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The Lancers are hosting the NHL Old- timers, featuring Lucknow's Paul Henderson, on Sunday, Dec. 3, be- ginning at 2 p.m. The Falcons travel to Grand Valley on Sunday for a 5 p.m. game against the Tornados. and posted a 6-1 victory. Getting the markers for Madill were Jason McDonald with a pair and singles from Dave McDonald, Tim Hayes, Josh Johnston, and Jeff King. Re- ceiving assists were Dosman, Ian Smith, Porter, and Wilson.
