The line of Tabitha Lindsay, Bethany Lindsay, and Lindsay De- Vos contributed four cif the five games. The Wingham girls came back from deficits 2-0 and 4-3 to earn the victory. Lindsay DeVos had two goals and one assist for Wingham, with Bethany Lindsay netting two goals: Tabitha Lindsay had one as- sist. Michelle McNichol tallied the first Wingham goal with help from Cindy Freiburger. Sarah Alexander and Shannon Gibson each scored two goals for Milverton. Terri Lynn Shiell was in goal for Wingham with Alison Ohm in net for Milverton. The girls • hosted the Stratford Kinettes on Saturday and then host Milverton at home on March 18. Wingham is hosting the WOAA playoff tournament on March 25, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Lock - ridge Memorial Arena. Senior girls ski to 4th at OFSAA Third place in relay lifts team to fourth place Tile Madill senior girls cross-country ski placed fourth overall at the OFSAA cross-country championships held Feb. 23-24 at Hardwood Hills, north of Barrie. After the first day of competition, the team was sixth, but a third place finish in the relay, carried the senior girls to a fourth place overall standing. Over 700 skiers from high schools throughout the province were competing in the two-day event. The combined junior team placed eighth overall at the All -Ontario championships, while the combined senior team placed ninth. Following are the individual Madill results at the OFSAA cross-country ski championships. Senior Girls - 6.7 km Julie Lisle, 13th, 22:17.9 minutes; Sarah Buck, 31st, 24:02.3 minutes; Lara Fenton, 46th, 25:32.6 minutes; Tasha Mayer, 70th, 26:53.6 minutes; Jen Fenton, 99th, 29:20.7 minutes. Skiers Lisle, Buck, Fenton and Mayer counted for a sixth place finish with 160 points. Senior Boys - 9.2 km Bryan DeBruyn, 94th, 29:34.7 minutes; Rowan Kerr, 113th, 30:21.3 minutes; bon Bowyer, 117th, 30:57.0 minutes; Jason Crawford, 124th, 31:20.9 minutes; Matt Atton, 135th, 31:58.0 minutes. Skiers DeBruyn, Kerr, Dowyer, and Crawford counted for a 20th place finish with 448 points. Junior Girls - 4.4 km Kara Pepper, 42nd, 18:02.2 minutes; Susan Bieman, 53rd, 18:35.0 minutes; Michelle Freiburger, 70th, 19:34.4 minutes; Denise Millen,89th, 20:56.6 minutes; Karen Buck, 100th, 21:34.5 minutes. Skiers Pepper, Bieman, Freiburger, and Millen counted for an 1 lth place finish with 254 points. Junior Boys - 6.7 km Aaron Barrie, 46th, 22:12.3 minutes; Jamie Good, 74th, 23:41.9 minutes; Jeff Osinga, 84th, 24:18.0 minutes; Dennis Lubbers, 96th, 24:44.8 minutes; Mike Puddy, 123rd; 26:47.0 minutes. Skiers Barrie, Good, Osinga and Lubbers counted for an 1lth place finish with 300 points. ec NE WNW" Bantam tourney this weekend The Wingham Minor Hockey Association (WMHA) will be hosting its first eight -team bantam hockey tournament on Saturday. Teams competing in the one - day tournament are Blyth, Brus- sels, Belmore, Lucknow, Teeswa- ter, Tiverton, Mildmay and the Wingham Kinsmen Bantams. Minor hockey president Jeff Lockridge said the tournament was organized because there are very few `CC' and under tourna- ments in the area. He noted that there are a lot of 'B' and 'C' and under tournamentts, but they end up with the 'C' team going against a B' team in the fmal. Lockridge said this is a year- end tournament to give area ban- tam teams some additional compe- tition. The three sponsors for the tour- nament, are the Wingham Sports- men Club, the Wingham Golf and Pre.tykes participate The Wingham Pre -Tykes team, comprised mostly of four and five year olds, competed in the Clifford Cricket Hockey tournament on the weekend. The team played three games, one Friday, one Saturday and one Sunday. Wingham played Kurtzville Fri- day evening, with each team scor- ing seven times. Wingham started slow, but fought back from 5-2 and 6-3 deficits to gain the tie. Greg Tiffin scored four goals for Wingham with; singles added by Tom Deans, Travis Galloway and Greg Mundy. Against Minto on Saturday, Wingham came up against a first — a fully equipped goaltender in a pre -tyke game. The team played well but several shots that usually would have been goals were blocked. Ryan MacKay scored 1'lildmcty bantams win 3-0 Mildmay scored a 3-0 decision over Teeswater Bantams last Mon- day to take a tw r game lead in their best three of five WOAA Bantam group playoff series. Mildmay tallied a goal in each pens f the contest played at the Teeswa r -Culross Community Centre. Jim Durrer netted the first goal for Mildmay in the first period. Jeremy Ellis scored in the second period with help from Bill Meyer and Mark Lobsinger. Meyer scored in the final period with Mark Kuntz and Brad Dietrich earning assists. Kurtis Lobsinger recorded the shut out in the Mildmay net. Teeswater took 11 of the 21 mi- nor penalties assessed in the con- test. twice and Greg Tiffin added one as Wingham fell 6-3.AAndrew Tur- ton scored all six Minto goals. Wingham's third game was against the host Clifford team, with Wingham scoring a slim 4-3 win. Cory MacDonald, Brandon Simmons, MacKay and Tiffm were the Wingham goal getters. Deans was credited with three as- sists with Kyle Ritchie adding one. Also playing for Wingham were Tyler Stewart, Spencer Shaw, Jor- dan Errington, Nial Jones, Tammy Freiburger, Alex Hoggarth, and Thorston Grummett. Curling Club, and Jag's Road House. Competition begins at 8 a.m. at the Lockridge Memorial Arena with Wingham facing off against Blyth. The consolation game goes at 6:40 p.m. with the champion- ship final beginning at 8 p.m. Brussels goes against Belmore at 9:20 a.m., Lucknow meets Teeswater at 10:40 a.m. and Tiver- ton plays Mildmay at noon.
