were organized to take the place of

described her induction and basic
training in Kitchener and her tour
of duty as a stenographer in Halifax
and as a clerk in England and Hol-
land. She concluded that the disci-
pline and esprit de corps of the
army, along with the varied experi-
ences, resulted in a person being
more tolerant and understanding
when the war was over. She also
recommended the armed forces as a
career for young people today.

Wingham couple
married 49 years
Congratulations arc in order for a
Wingham couple, Charlie and
Mossie Jones, who will be married
49 years on Nov 23.
They were married at Mossie's
home on the first of Morris. The
groom had to put chains on his car
to get to his bride's home. They
farmed for some years near Auburn
where their two children, Jean of
Scotland andGeorge of Wingham,
were born. Later they moved to
Shuter Street, Wingham, where
they still reside.

The seniors will meet for potluck
dinners at noon on the second Tues-
day of January, February, March
and April. The last Games Night for
1989 will be held Nov 28. All are
urged to attend and bring a friend.
Mrs. Allan Hyndrnan -conducted
a contest on place names of
Ontario, which involved all mem-
bers in deep concentration. Mrs.
George Brown and Mrs. Lloyd
Faust were the winners.
