LAKELET—Mrs. Jake Versteeg
was hostess for the Education meet-
ing of the Women's Institute. Presi-
dent Mrs. Deriil Hallman conduct-
ed the meeting and Mrs. Enterson
Ferguson led devotions. Six mem-
bers and ones visitor answered the
roll call by telling something they
had learned recently. Mrs. Versteeg
shared a reading, 'Bygone bliz-
zards are great in memory only",
which made everyone hope this
winter will be better than those she
described.
In business, it was decided to
give donations to Town and Court -

announce "Christina's Holiday
Entertaining", to be held. in Bel -
grave WI Hall on Nov. 20 from 7-9
p.m.
Mrs. Hallman reported on the
Guelph Area convention held in
Maryhill in October. The theme,
"Going Strong", was used by all
the speake:s. The resolution on
having living wills was sustained.
Mrs. Barbara Pinkney is the new
board director for Subdivision 11,
with Mrs. Macey Johnston as her
alternate.
Everyone took part in a skit,
"Tell Me, Doctor", which brought
out many ideas to improve the
work of the Women's Institute in
the community and also added
some humor to the meeting. Each
lady donated to Pennies for Friend-
ship, one cent for every tooth, false
or natural. Lunch was served by the
hostess, assisted by Mrs. Harry
Judge.
All ladies are reminded of the
Christmas dinner meeting at the
home of Mrs. Elva Jacques, when
everyone will contribute to the din-
nerexchenge
and. participate in a gift

BLUEVALE--For their Agricul-
ture and Canadian Industries meet-
ing, Mrs. Nancy Scott and Mrs. Mel
Craig chose the Goderich salt mines
as their topic. They disclosed that
the salt is mined- 1.8 milesunder-
ground, with 50 miles of tunnels.
Salt was discovered in the area in
1866. There are 14,000 uses for salt
in industry, agriculture and home.
A discussion- followed, showingj-the
interest in their topic.
Mrs. Harry Elliott welcomed
members' to her home and presi-
• dent Mrs. Wendell Stamper opened
the meeting with a poem, 'Lest We
Forget". The Hunan County,InSti-
tutes are sponsoring a "anistrnas
Holiday Entertaining" demonstra-
tion with Home Econornist Deb
Campbell on Nov. 20 from 7:30 to 9
p.m. at Belgrave.
Mrs. Robert Walters reported on
a workshop she attended on
"Understanding Hurraan Behav-
ior". Mrs. Elliott reported on the
50th anniversary of the WI Guelph
Area convention which she and
Mea. Charles Mathers attended at
Maryhill. The theme was "Going
Song". The 1990 convention will
be held in Atwood,
Mrs. Stamper thanked all who
took part in the meeting. Miss Edith
Can* K. Scott and the hostess
sited lunch. The December meet-
ing will ciente uck lunch at
the Ettuevale hall s la at 12 neon.
