Spider" by Eric Earle.

The three Grade 1 classes joined
together for a dinosaur unit° We
learned about the big

and fierce tyrannosaurus rex. We
did research, puzzles, made egg
carton dinosaurs and wrote
dinosaur stories.
The filmstrips were excellent and
we had a lot of books. Last week
Sue kop the Children's Museum in
London visited Howick Central
School.
Miss Sanderson's and Mrs.
Alcock's students have just finished
working together on a farm unit.
They did a lot of neat centres and
now are working on animal -shape
books.

Mr. Doubleday's Grade 7-8, class
has been very busy completing pro-
jects and writing ,tests. We received
our tests in industrial arts and fanii;
ly studies. In science, we are writ,
ing a quiz on solutions. .
Some of the students were asked
to write the Gaus Math Test to rate
themselves against other students
their own age. We are counting
down the days until the summer
vacation. '

SPORTS REPORT

Track and field» was held in three
stages at Howick due to inclement
weather.
The firgt stage was on the after-
noon of May 26 after a morning
rain. Most races were completed, as
well as a few field events. The sec-
ond stage was Monday when all
field events were completed.
The third stage was last Tuesday
when the 400 -metre reiay was held.
The results are as follows: Ban-
tam boys, Ryan Gallaher, 64 points;
Bantam girls, Kerrie Dickert, 40
points; Atom boys, David Greig, 50
points; Atom girls, Amy Metcalfe
and Stacey Prentice, 48 points.
KELLY AND BECKY GILLESPIE enjoyed hotdogs last week at
the Toronto -Dominion Bank in Wingham. The hot dog day raised
money for Children's Hospital of Western Ontario.
NEW CADET AWARD -AC Eric Furness of Lucknow is this
year's recipient of the Wingham Air Cadets° special activities
award. The awe rd has been donated by Dave and Gertrude Hynes
of Wingham in rnernory of their daughter Claudia and was pre-
