RELAY TEAM IS FIRST -The Wingham Optimist Track and Field Club's Bantam girls' relay team was first at the recent South Simcoe Dufferin Meet. Team members include Natascha Muscheid, Ibukun Omole, Andrea Gaujd and Julie Lisle. (Track Club Photo) Optimist athletes excel at Toronto track meet Twenty-one athletes put forth excellent performances in the annu- al Appleton -Parrott Cup Track and Field meet in Toronto last weekend. The Wingham Optimist team earned nine medals and nine fourth, fifth and sixth-place ribbons in this high-calibre meet. They also earned 26 personal bests. In the Mite Girls' division, Janet Lisle ran in peak form, earning a gold medal in the 200 -metre race. Lisle also picked up a silver in the long jump with 3.20 metres. Team- mate Ginny Schenk ran in excellent form to earn a bronze medal in the 200 -metre run and placed 5th in the long jump. Patrick Nolan was a triple;ribbon winner earning fifth in both 200 metres and 800 metres, and 5th place in the long jump. Michael Nolan won a bronze medal in the Tyke Boys' high jump with a 1.13 -metre effort. Mary Lisle captured a bronze medal in Tyke Girls° long jump for her excellent jump of 3.45 metres. Julie Lisle leaped in excellent form earning a bronze medal in Atom Girls' long jump. She also earned fourth place in the high jump and sixth iq the 800 -metre race. Shane Pegg managed to increase his personal best by 10 cm in the Bantam Boys' high jump event with an effort of 1.50 metres. Natascha Muscheid earned a bronze in a very close 100 -metre race for Bantam Girls. Derrick Evers earned a fifth place ribbon in Midget Boys' 1,500 metres. A Mite Girls' 4x100 relay team consisting of Schenk, Lisle, Jennifer Pike and Deborah Pike earned sec- ond place. The following are individual results.
