THE SUMMER RLADING PROGRAM at the Wingham Library came to a close recently. Librarian Carolyn
Gauld gathered her young charges around "Play -More, the Dinosaur" (on loan from the Wingham Public
School) and a dinosaur display. Listening to her talk on dinosaurs aretJane, Ann, Amy and Cohn
as well as Jaime Schiestel, Nicole and Victoria Waechter and Dana Davies. Dinosaurs were the theme of
this year's study.

enjoy pot -luck picnic
The August meeting of the Mary
Hastings Rainbow Club featured a
potluck picnic supper, sponsored by
Catherine Campbell, Merle Wilson
and Cindy Clark.
At the supper table, each lady was
provided with a copy of "Little
Sayings of Wisdom", which were
quite amusing, when read. The roll
call was answered by members
telling of a place where they had
been this summer ..orstill hvped...to
go._
Catherine Campbell conducted an,
interesting quiz about places around
Wingham. She also read a humorous
poem entitled "Deacon Brown's
Courtship".
Lou Breckenridge, Clara Fitch
and Ivy Riehl were the winners of
the draw prizes which were drawn
by six-year-old Keith Whittington of
London.
Several games 'of euchre were
played,, the winners being Millie
Welsh, Eva Carr, Mary, Campbell
and-Margaret*Hastingse __._.._.._.........._...�
The group will host a musical
evening at the next meeting, Sept. 1
at8p.m.
Walker relatives
enjoy family reunion
The 1988 Walker Reunion was held
in the Wroxeter Park recently with
7(1 -people in attendance.
A smorgasbord dinner was held at
1 p.m., followed by a short business
meeting. The 1989 :executive.
includes Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walker,
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burchill, Mrs.
Lloyd Walker and Mrs. Alex
MacTavish.
The games committee conducted
a number of events for the children,
including races, a scavenger hunt,
kick -the -shoe and a licorice -eating
contest.
Activities for the adults included
filling a pop bottle with waterfrom a
margarine container riddled with
holes, counting the number of jelly
beans and smarties in a jar and
word meanings.
Walker relatives attended from
Thornbury, London, Gorrie,
Teeswater, Guelph, Goderich,
Peterborough, Elora, Walkerton,
Oakville, New Hamburg, Bluevale
and Wingham.
The 1989 reunion will be held at
Wroxeter - the third Sunday in
August.
