Merelyn Letson, Anglican minister for the parish of Lucknow, Ripley and Kinlough, told the graduating class of registered nurs- ing assistants at the Wingham and. District Hospital last Friday that there are two paths which may be taken ie life. Just as Moses led his people to the edge of the Promised Land and gave them the choice of the way of life or death, each nursing graduate has a choice, she said and, "Everyone will time to know which choice you have made." She told the graduating class members they could do only what is necessary or let the vision of nursing perfection stay clearly before their eyes. The three elements that make a good nurse are compassion, in- tegrity and the desire to continue learning, Ms. Letson said. A former nurse and nursing in- structor, Ms. Letson said she took her experience into the ministry. "I have a special feeling for nursing and never lost it or the vision of holistic care." Ms. Letson was thanked by Marilyn Irwin, director of the nursing assistant program. FANTASTIC YARD Earlier in the program, Joan Black of RR 6, Goderich, gave the valedictory address. Mrs. Black said in the nine short months of the course, the 15 students had seen "life and death, sadness and joy". She thanked the hospital, the families of the students and the teachers for providing the graduates -a chance to pursue rewarding careers within the health-care system.
