Robert Coultes, longtime Morris Township farmer. A native of Morris Township and a farmer for many years near the village of Belgrave, Robert Howson Coultes of Brookhaven Nursing Home, formerly of Belgrave, passed away Monday, May 2, at Wingham and District Hospital. He was in his 83rdyear and death followed a brief illness. — - - Mr, Coultes was a son of the late John Coultes and Ellen Miller. He attended Stone School, Morris Township and farmed in Morris until his retirement to Belgrave in 1966. He was a member of Knox United Church, Belgrave and had been active in the community, serving on the Wingham and District Hospital board and the board of the United Co -Operatives of Ontario; Belgrave, for several years. - On Sept. 16, 1933, Mr. Coultes mar- ried the former Ellen Stonehouse in Belgrave. Ile was bereaved by her passing in 1978. He is survived by his family: Bill and Muriel Coultes, Glemi-and_Dorothy Coultes,-all of the third of Morris. There are five granddaughters, four grandsons and four great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his family, predeceased by two brothers, Asil and John and two sis- ters, Cela Keating and Lena Mit- chell. The late Bob Coultes rested at The Mrs. Russell J. ne laid to rest at Brussels Following a one o'clock funeral service on Tuesday, May 3 at The McBurney Funeral Home, Wing - ham, Mrs. Russell J. Bone of Wing - ham was laid to rest in Brussels Cemetery. Rev. J. Rea Grant of the Wingham United Church, where Mrs. Bone had been a member, was the officiating clergyman and Mrs. Bone's granddaughter, Julian Grif- fith, read the 23rd Psalm at the graveside service. Pallbearers were Tom Warwick, Brian Bone, Paul Bone, Murray Bone, Dave Austin and Stan Orien. Memorial floral tributes were car- ried by Cathy Bone, Janet Bone and Joanne Austin. Mrs. Bone passed away Friday, April 29, at London's University Hospital following a lengthy battle with illness. She was in her 83rd year. Born April 14, 1906, in Morris Township, she was the former Verena May Clark. She was prede- ceased by her husband in 1973 and was the dear mother of Ken of To- ronto, Glenn of Morris Township, Charles of Guelph, Mrs. John (Lois) Austin of Scarborough, Keith of Bur- lington and Brenda Griffith of Bolton; dear grandmother of 13 grandchildren; sister of Howard Clark of Brussels. Funeral held Friday for Mrs. E. Purdon Mrs. Purdon passed away Tues- day, May 3, at Wingham andbistriet Hospital in her 80th year. The for- mer Florence E. Douglas, she was born in Edmore on Oct. 28, 1908, a daughter of the late Robert.). Doug- las and Margaret Butterly. She was predeceased by one brother and three sisters and was 'bereatred by the death of her husbandin,1977. Born August 18, 1916, in' Wawanosh Township, Mrs. Johnston was the daughter of the late John McQuillin and Elizabeth Habick. She attended school at St. ,Helens and Lucknow and graduated as a registered nurse from Stratford General Hospital in 1938. She will, be remembered as a lov- ing wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her musical talents, culinary attributes and handicraft skills and is especially remembered as a caring nurse and for her steadfast friendships. She was a member of Bluevale United Church and was church organist for many years. She was also an active and valued member of the United Church Women, Bluevale Women's Institute and Bluevale Senior Citizens. Left to mourn are her husband, Carl E. CRTC Wingham Town Council supports Trillium Cable Communications Limited of Barrie in its application for CRTC approval of the purchase of Country Cable Limited. Atits.regulay-session, council agreed to a request from the Barrie - based company and will write a letter to the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission to inform the CRTC that Wingham sup- ports the application for approval of Country Cable's 100 per cent pur- chase by Trilliimi. At present, Country Cable provides cable television service to 5,500 subscribers in Wingham, Listo- wel, Pahnerston, Mount Forest, Arthur and Harriston. Trillium Cable services ap- proximately 43,000 subscribers, predominantly in the 'Barrie and Orillia area, and also operates cable systems in Dundalk, Grand Valley, Mildmay and Shelburne. The purchase must have CRTC approval and a public hearing on the application is scheduled for June 7 in Hull; Quebec. - — In its letter to council, Trillium lists improvements, planned for its systems, including: —A wider variety of community programming, more access' and in- volvement in the channel by each community. —Improvements to the signal quality by upgrading the headends (signal receive sites) to ensure the highest quality available on each channel offered. —Additional services provided as they become available. —Improved billing systems of- fering subscribers more payment options, and monthly statements.
