IN SOFT -BALL LEAGUE
The Trivitt Memorial - soft ball
team came out on top when the sec-
ond half of the leagaXe series came
to a close last Thursday evening.
Trivia and James St, were tie for
first place and in a close and excit-
ing game lto decide the winners Tri -
vitt won --score 7 to 6. There was
a' good crowd out and the rivalry
was keen. At the end of the sixth
the score was 6-2 infavor of Trivitt.
James St. added four in the eighth
and in the same innings Trivitt a-
gain went in 'the lead. As James St,

The World's Series
The first of the two out of three
games to decide the championship
in the soft ball league was played
between lames St." (winners of the
first half) .and. Trivitt (winners of
the second half)' on. Monday night.
James St. won a closely contested
game, score 8 to 5. It was a real
battle all the way and the specta-
tors were given a good exhibition.

the Department of Education re-
quired that physical braining should
be given the scholars. A special
grant was made for this purpose and
teachers qualified .to teach this
branch had to be engaged and yet
there was no accomodation at the
school for physical, culture,
Mr. J. Elston strongly endorsed

said. He thought it would be wise
if the couneil saw fit to grant the
required amount so that building op-
erations might be commenced .at
once. Mr. Elston was quite 'satis-
fied that the new addition vas
necessary, the alternative being to
turn away the county pupils. This
was not advisable as the attend-
ance of county intPils helped to
lessen the cost of education to the
village ;of Exeter:
After due consideration it 't,•7 as
moved by Davis' and Southcottthat
a by-law be prepared and sebniitted
to the ratepayers of Exeter author-
izing the council to ;issue debentures
for $7,000 for the addition to the
new school; the debentures to be
spread over ai, period of five years
and to bear interest at the rate of
5 per 'cent, " per annum. ---Carried;
Tenders for painting" the exterior,
of the Town Hall and the interior
according to specifications were re-
ceived as follows: G. 1I, Martin,
London, $1355.00; Fred Howard, Eg-
