Nuggets drop two games
to Ripley, down Listowel
The Wingham Kentucky Nuggets
met Ripley last Wednesday in
playoff action.
Ripley opened the scoring before
Wingham's David Laing,,assisted by
Dean Walker, put Wingham on the
scoreboard and tied the game by the
end of the first frame.
'Second -period play was
't16minated by Wingham, Laing
scored another goal, assisted by
Trevor Huffman to make the score 2-
1 for Wingham at the end of two
frames.
However, Ripley came on strong
in the third period and scored three
unanswered goals for the 4-2 Ripley
win.
Witigham hosted the second game
of the playoffs last Thursday. Ripley
scored the only goal of the first
period and increased the lead to 2-0
after two frames.
In the third, Ripley scored again,
but Wingham's Huffman scored,
assisted by Phillip Deans. But it was
too little too late as Ripley scored
once more for the 4-1 win. Wingham
congratulates Ripley in ifs playoff
advance.

Valentine's Day, when the local lads
hosted Listowel in an exhibition
game.

scored again for Wingham with just
11 seconds remaining in the game.
The final score was 3-1 in Wingham's
favor.
Scott Allen provided good
goaltending in the match and his
teammates worked well as a unit in
their passing play.
Madill Nordic ski team
advances to. All -Ontario
The F. E. Madill Secondary
School's combined team will ad-
vance to the All -Ontario Nordic Ski
Meet on Feb. 22 and 23 in the
Haliburton Highlands. The team
won the recent WOSSA meet.
Bill Cameron led the boys' team,
which won the silver medal and the
top Madill female skiers were
Leanne Simpson, sixth and Martha
Boon, seventh.
The members of the senior com-
bined team advancing to the
prestigious all -Ontario meet are:
10 -kilometre race: Cameron, 28:55
min., and; Michael Cameron, 33:48,
llth; Tony Gingrich, 37:25, 21st;
Brad Crawford, 38:37, 23rd; Charles
Trapp, 39:59, 25th; Murray Lapp,
40:12, 26th (sub.);
5 -kilometre race: Simpson, 23:33,
6th; Boon, 24:37, 7th; Tammy
Storm, 27:41, 12th and Jennifer
Hunter, 34:51, 19th.
In addition to the seniors, three
junior skiers will also represent
Madill at the meet: 5K race, Ken-
neth Lapp, 20:07, fifth and 3K race,
Karen Clugston, 15:47, fifth and
Meaghan Clarke, 17:27, 9th.
