Ring found

• FORDWICH — Last week
Mrs. Ron Livermore found a
gold wedding band while
working in her garden.
After some inquiries with a
neighbor, Mrs. George

more learned that Mrs.
Howell Fraser lost her ring
in the garden 30 years ago
and never had been able to
find it.
• Mr. and Mrs. Fraser were
the parents of Mrs. Harold
Pollock and the ring was
returned to her.
When Mr, and Mrs, Fraser
left Fordwich, they lived in
Stratford with their daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Pollock. The Frasers both
are deceased.

business after his ap-
prenticeship period was
over.
When the chance for the
position at the post office
came open, Mr. Clarke said
he jumped at the op-
portunity. For several years
he and his wife Helen shared.
the duties until he retired
from the plumbing and
heating business nine years
ago to devote all his time to
the post office.
At a time when many
small post offices are finding
it hard to stay in business,
Mr. Clarke says the volume
of mail at the Wroxeter post
office has. increased and
there is no sign of it
decreasing. The amount of
mailing done by the
Maitland Valley Con -1
servation ' Authority has
helped to up the volume, but
he said there are ap-'
proximately 150 people or
businesses getting their mail
at the Wroxeter post office,
enough to keep Mr. Clarke,
'his assistant Ruth Sharpin
and two rural couriers very
busy.
Mr. Clarke has seen many
changes in the post office
over the past 20 years, the
most obvious of which is the
increased cost of mail
delivery, something he took
a lot of good-natured kidding
about over the years.
Mr. Clarke should not have
any difficulty filling in his
spare time. He and his wife
enjoy camping and he is a
horseshoe player. Mr.
Clarke also belongs to the
Masonic Lodge, the Legion
and the United Church and
takes an active role in each.
The Clarkes may even do a
bit of traveling.
Like most of the residents
of Wroxeter he probably will
make .the daily- trek down to
the post office to hear the.
latest news and pick up the
mail. ,
Mr. Clarke was honored at
an open house recently, and
presented with a certificate
by Harry Allin, the Kin-
cardine postmaster. Mr.
Clarke was officially retired
as ofMay 31.'
JACK CLARKE, the postmaster in Wroxeter or e
past 21 years, recently retired from public life. He was
presented with a certificate honoring his many years of
service following his official retirement May 31.
