Relatives mourn death
of couple from Mitchell
Relatives and friends of
Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Dennis
Cameron of 40 Huron Rd.,
Mitchell, suffered over-
whelming grief last week
when they passed away
within one day of each other
Sharing in, that grief 'were
some local relatives has Mrs.
Cameron was a niece of Fred
Elliott and the late Harry
Elliott of Bluevale and the
late Mrs. Stuart Cowan of
Wingham.
Cameron'passed away
Monday, May 6, at his home.
Born 64 years ago at Jarvis,

Mrs. Norma Bender dies
The last surviving
member of the family of the
late William Foxton and
Mary Jane Walker, Mrs.
Norma Mae Bender of
Wingham, formerly of
Carrick Township, passed
away Monday, May 6, at
Wingham-.. and - - District
Hospital. She was in her 85th
year, born March 10, 1901, in
Culross Township.
Following her elementary
education at Holmes School,

Turnberry Township, Mrs.
Bender attended college and
worked as a stenographer in
Toronto. She married LeRoy
Bender in that city in
November of 1936 and they
farmed for many years in
the McIntosh-Belmore•area.
He predeceased her in 1972, .- •
Mrs. Bender's passing is
mourned by her daughter,
Mrs. Garth (Patricia) Postill
of RR 3, Clinton, and her Bon-
in -law Garth. There are
three grandchildren, Travis,
Darrell and Allison. She was
predeceased by three sisters
and eight brothers.
Funeral service was held
Thursday, May 9, at 3:30 at
The McBurney Funeral
Home, Wingham, complete
service conducted by Rev. J.
Rea Grant of the United
Church of which deceased
was a member. Her final
resting place will be Fair-
view Cemetery, Listowel.

the Heath -Leslie Funeral
Home, Mitchell, until
Thursday when a double
funeral service was held at
two o'clock. Interment
followed, in Woodland
Cemetery.
Memorial donations were

the Canadian Cancer

Rev. Charles (Karl) Krug
was distinguished Canadian
A former resident of the
Wingham area, Rev. Charles
(Karl) Arthur Krug, passed
away May 9 at his home in
Waterloo . Remembered for
his many significant con-
tributidns to his country as
an academic, clerical and
military leader, Colonel
Krug was 79.
A graduate of University
of Toronto's Trinity College,
Colonel Krug held many
positions which reflected
outstanding service in every
endeavor of public life which
he undertook. In the field of
education, he is remembered
as a dynamic leader in both
teaching and administration.
A Carnegie Fellow, he also
held positions as professor of
Psychology and .Philosophy,
Mount Allison University,
Sackville, N.B.; Registrar of
Huntington College,
Laurentian. University,
Sudbury; and principal of
Algoma College, Sault Ste.
Marie.

distinction, reflected in the

Mrs. Ashworth passed
away Saturday, May 11, at
Wingham and District
Hospital in her 83rd year.
The former Elsie Irene
Wright, she was a daughter
of the late.. Samuel Wright
and Annie Pollock and was
born at Henfryn, ,Ontario, on
June 18, 1902. She was a
member of St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Ashworth was
predeceased by her husband
William in 1969. She is
survived by one son, Jack
MacDonald, and his wife
Margaret of Hamilton; four
grandchildren, Douglas
MacDonald of Ottawa, Mrs.
Robert (Catherine). Scott of
Hamilton, Rev. Colin Mac-
Donald of Climax, Saskat-
chewan, and, Brian Hall of
Kitchener; one sister, Mrs.
Cecil (Myrtle) Merkley,
Wingham. She was prede-
ceased bytwo daughters,
Lois Lewis of Hamilton and
Mrs. Ken (Doris) Hall, Kit-
chener; two brothers and
one sister.

Ruth Anne Reist, Waterloo.
She is also survived by one

Geraldton, and was sister to

Robertson of Vancouver;
loved by her grandchildren,
