By Desiree Vivea If there's one thing I will not have in my refrigerator, it's one of those fake plastic yellow lemon -things full of a reasonable facsimile of "lemon juice". My kitchen is rarely lemon -less — there are so many uses for this delightful fruit — and sinc it's avail- able the year `round, I see no reason to purchase a phony plastic imitation of the real thing. • Besides what if you need sortie grated lemon zest in a recipe? Grated yellow plastic wouldn't quite do. Lemons, real lemons, add a tart and zesty touch to so many dishes: Squeeze fresh juice over any kind of fish, over cooked vegetables and - salads, into sauces' and beverages of al i sorts. There's nothing more re- freshing than homemade lemonade, which is just as nice with breakfast as is the more traditional glass of orange juice. And then there's lemon meringue pie, second only to apple pie as a favorite. (See microwave recipe below.) For those watching their salt intake, lemon juice is a tasty and healthy flavoring alternative, And lemons are, as everyone knows, ,high in, vitamin C. Stash one or two in the vegetable crisper, ready to squeeze a little sun- shine in your recipes. Micro -Tip: Warm 'whole lemons in your microwave for a few seconds before squeezing. The fruit will yield more juice, and will be easier to squeeze. (Don't try this with a plastic lemon!) Dodd:, -Mead and Company (Can- ada) Ltd., Toronto. 182 pp. Reviewed by PERCY MADDUX In the Ituri rain forest of central Africa live the Mouti Pygmies, said to be the smallest people on. earth (the men generally four feet, eight inches,' the women four feet six i.uches) They are a very primitive tribe that has been here for thousands of years. Kevin Duffy, anthropolo- gist with long experience with primitive people, especially in Africa, went to live with them and tells his experiences in the book "Children of the Forest" (this is what the Pygmies there call themselves). While this is a personal narrative, it is full of in- formation about the Mouti, their habits, their beliefs, and their customs, and there are numerous dull finish black and white photo- graphs. The book is easy to read and basically exciting. It is a journey into the forest with the author. • Business cards • Letterheads • Envelopes • Flyers • Handbills • Catalogues • Price lists • Bulletins • Posters • Invoices • Directories • Annual Reports • Books • Newsletters • Anything you can think of We have Computer typesetting, Offset printing, Sheetfeed, Web Offset, Letterpress.
