Pot luck luncheon precedes
annual meeting of Institute
Whitechurch -- Fifteen
ladies attended a pot luck
luncheon held in the Com-
munity Memorial Hall on
April. 10 at noon. The meal
was prepared by Mrs.
Johnston Conn, Miss Merle
Wilson and Mrs. James
Wilson.
The meeting of the In-
stitute members followed,
with Mrs. John Currie
presiding and giving a
"Spring Song". Thank -you
cards were read from those
receiving shutin boxes. The -
Sunshine and Cheer . com-
mittee gave a report and
reports were also received
from standing committee
conveners Mrs. Tom Day,
Mrs. Currie, Mrs. Don Ross,
Mrs. G. Fisher, Mrs. James
Wilson and Mrs. Bill Rintoul.
Roll call was answered by
payment of fees.

The district director's

visit this area for two weeks
in September. Plans were.
made for a June bus trip and
it was decided to hold a
dessert euchre Monday,
April 29, beginning at 1:30.
The 4-H Achievement Night
is to be held in Teeswater
this Thursday and there will
be a bake sale on May 9. A
penny auction is to be held,
with each member to bring
an article for sale.

ship and World Affairs, Mrs.

The meeting closed with

Special ministries
discussed at WMS
GORRIE ,— The April
Meeting of the Women's
Missionary Society of Knox
Presbyterian . Church was
held at the home of Mrs.
James Patterson. Mrs. J.
Robinson. opened the
meeting with a poem,
"Heavenly Shepherd", and
all joined in the singing of a
hymn, followed by prayer.
The roll call was answered
by a verse or prayer for
spring and minutes of the
March meeting were read.
Six visits were recorded. The
offering was dedicated by
Mrs. Robinson and members
agreed to send a donation of
$20. to the CGIT fund. -.
An invitation was received
from the Gorrie United
Church Women to attend
their spring Thankoffering
service on April 24 when
Morley Hammond of
Durham will speak and show
pictures of his trip to Korea.
Bluevale WMS has also
invited the group to attend a
special meeting Sunday,
May 5, to celebrate the 100th
birthday of their group. Mrs.
Robert Bregman of
Teeswater will be the guest
speaker.
The study, "Special
Moffatts honored
at surprise party
BLUEVALE — A surprise
party was held at the home
of Stanley and Vera Moffatt
recently in honor of their
45th wedding anniversary.
Over 100 friends and
relatives called during the
day and were- served tea,
coffee and a dainty lunch.
Those present came from
as far away as Cape Croker,
Listowel, Lucknow, Wing-
ham, Brussels, Bluevale and
area. The Moffatts have one
son Paul, his wife Karen and
three grandchildren, Ryan,
Kendra and Devin.
They enjoy the senior
citizens club in Bluevale and
take an active part in church
services.
Ministries", was led by Mrs.
Patterson. During discussion
period she related some.
interesting experiences she
and her husband had during
their ministry, as they
worked with the less for-
tunate. Mrs. Patterson
closed the meeting with a
hymn and prayer. The
hostess served lunch and a
social hour was enjoyed.
4-H members
host exchange
Five Wingham-area 4-H
members hosted 4-H
members from Standish,
Michigan, over a recent
weekend. Those involved in
the exchange visit were
Donna Johnston, RR 2,
Bluevale; David Wheeler,
RR 1, Bluevale; Darlene
Darlow, RR 4, Wingham;
Michele McMahan, RR 2,
Bluevale and Sandra Moffat
of Bluevale.
These Huron 4-H members
will be returning to Michigan
from April 26 to 28 as part of
the Wingham-Standish twin
city project.
Sacred Heart
shoot party
A shoot party was held last
Tuesday evening at Sacred
Heart Church, Wingham,
with the following results:

lady, Mary Henderson; high
man, Russell Gaunt; low
man, George Mitchell; most
shoots, Fred Porter; lucky
cup, Valerie McGlynn; door
prize, Donna Craig and
lowest in one game, Phyllis
Baker. •
The luncheon conveners
for the evening were Mary
Hehn, Teresa Foxton, Sara
Anstett and Lorraine Poulin.
The organizers thank
everyone who attended the
card parties this year and
hope to see everyone in the
fall.
Bridal shower
held at Knox,
BELGRAVE — A bridal
shower was held for Marni
Walsh last Saturday evening
in Knox United Church.
Donna Higgins played a
piano solo after which Mrs.
Darlene Vanderveen sang,
accompaning herself on the
guitar. Mrs. Garner
Nicholson gave a reading.
Mrs. Jim Hunter called
Marni, her mother, Mrs.
Cliff Walsh, and her sister,
Mary Ellen Walsh, to decor-
ate chairs at the front. An
address of good wishes was
given by Mrs. Alex Nethery
on behalf of friends and
neighbors. The gifts were
presented by Mrs. Brenda
Cardiff.
Marni thanked everyone
for the gifts and good wishes.

Noble Grands Club of the
Morning Star Rebekah
Lodge met recently at the
home of Mrs. Marg Mc-
Cutcheon. The president,
Mrs. Sarah ~Stephenson,
welcomed all and conducted
the business. Mrs. Mary
Lowe gave the secretary's
and treasurer's reports. Ten
members answered the roll
call. It was announced the
next meeting is to be held at
the home of Mrs. Jean
Bridge with Mrs;.I Alice
McArter assisting. i

being awarded to Mrs. Lowe,
Mrs. Vera Hastings, Mrs.
