The 'minutes were read t y Mrs. Little, Mrs. Bill Gibson gave the treasurer's report and decisions were made on the certificates. Dave Gibb reported that the application for a grant from the provincial government had been turned down. New equipment has been installed at the pump house for chemical treatment and the pump house needs a new roof. Dave Stapleton is to obtain material and report to Mr. Gibb, then proceed to build the platform for the chemical tanks and put on the roof. Dave is to monitor for three days at the pump house, then Mr. Gibb will contact the environmental engineer to add chemicals to the new system. The meeting was ad- journed by Mr. Stapleton. JUSTIN MacTA VISH went out trick -or -treating for the first time last Wednesday evening and by all accounts he thought it was just great. The Belmore Moms and Tots group held a successful craft and garage sale at the complex last Saturday. Many beautiful crafts were on display including Christmas arrangements, quilts, stuffed toys, "Cab- bage Patch" doll clothes, knitted and crocheted garments for all age, ceramics, plants, homemade chocolates and maple syrup products. A wide range of clothes, games and sporting equipment was on sale at garage -sale prices. Lunch was served throughout the day, making the Moms and Tots day a success. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Thieldale and daugther Camille of London were weekend guests with Mrs. Helen Eadie. The community extends its congratulations to. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nickel on the occasion of their 40th wed- ding anniversary. To mark this special event, ap- proximately 140 relatives and friends joined them for a dinner and dance last Saturday evening at the Belmore complex. The dinner was catered to by the Howick group convened by Ellen Harkness, Florence Dickson and .Evelyn Dett- man. Following the dinner, an open reception took place for friends with dancing and socializing. The evening was arranged by their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Stefen of Kingston, and son Don of Howick Town- ship. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jeffray of Airdrie, Alberta, were dinner guests last Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. David Harper and family. Gail Renwick and Bob Tanner of Petrolia were. weekend guests with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Renwick. The families of Arnold and Elmer Jeffray had a get- together Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Jeffray. A bridal shower was held at McIntosh United Church Sunday afternoon for Gwen Harkness, whose marriage to Duane Currie takes place later this month. Hostesses were Linda Walker and Ellen Harkness. After a lot of fun with a get -acquainted contest, Eva Ferguson gave several humorous readings. Miss Harkness was assisted in opening her gifts by her sisters, Kay Awrey and Barbara Weber, the groom's mother, Jean Currie, and his sister-in-law, Liz Currie. A social hour followed. Every- one welcome. BRUSSELS — The seniors club met in the Legion last Wednesday at 2 p.m. with approximately 20 members in attendance. Mrs. Alice McArter, the president, opened the meeting and Mrs. Doris Hopper looked after the business. Mrs. McArter then called upon the guest speaker, Edna McLellan, who spoke on the importance of elderly people getting the right nutrition. She handed out booklets on nutrition and cooking for the elderly. Mrs. Davis was called upon for her part of the program and then several games of cards were en- joyed.
