Mss. Joseph Byer
dies in 103rd year
One of the oldest residents
of Howick Township, Mrs.
Joseph Byer, passed away
Tuesday, October 9, at the
home of her da.uhter, Mrs.
William Werner of RR 1,
Wroxeter. She was 102 years
of age.
The former EIizabeth
Reesor, she was predeceas-
ed by her parents and two
brothers. Her husband died
In 1968 and she was also be-
reaved by the death of her
grandson, Wesley Housser,
and her daughter -m -law,
Clara Byer.
Mrs. Byer is survived by
three daughters, Mrs. John
(Susannah) Housser of
Markham, Mrs. William
(Annie) Werner, RR 1,
Wroxeter, Flora and . friend
Jim Tripp of RR 2, Port
Perry; three sons, Levi, RR
1, Clifford, Alvin, Toronto,
and Harvey, Stouffville; 17
grandchildren; 47 great-
grandchildren and 24 great -
great -grandchildren.
Friends paid their respects

death of their brother
Arno McKay Kelly of
Kincardine died Saturday,
September 22, in the Kin-
cardine and District General
Hospital. He was in his 78th
year.
Born February 20, 1907, in
Wingham, he was a son of
the late John Alexander
Kelly and Elizabeth Homuth.
He married Margaret Anne
Partushek. in Dixie, Ontario,
on January 1, 1941.
Besides his wife, Mr. Kelly
is survived by two sons,
Peter A. -of Kincardine and
John A. E. of RR 4, Ripley;
one daughter, Mrs. W. G.
(Jane) Dobinson of Little
Current; four sisters, Mrs.
Charles (Gertrude) Tilden of
S. Thomas, Mrs. AIvin (Ida)
Proctor of Blyth, Mrs. Frank
(Louise) Collar and Mrs.
Bruce (Marie) McLean, both
of Wingham.

Kincardine Town Council
and a former president of the
Chamber of Commerce, Mr.
Kelly served in the Second
World War as a second
lieutenant. He was a life
deacon of Kincardine Baptist
Church and a life member of
the Gideons.
Funeral service was held
at the Kincardine Baptist
Church on Tuesday, Septem-
ber 25, Rev. George Lock-
hart officiating. Honorary
pallbearers were Ed Field-
ing, ,Alex Gomes, William
Graham, Thomas Lambert
and John Woodrow. Active
bearers were Roy Boese,
Clarence Bryans, Lloyd Hut-
ton, Jake Kroeger, Ron
Wells and Kenneth Petrie.
Interment followed in
Kincardine Cemetery.

A native of the town of
Wingham, Harry Kenneth
Casemore, passed away
Friday, October( 5, at his
residence, 613 Main Street,
Selkirk, Manitoba, aged 60
years.
Harry was born at
Wingham and lived here in
his early years. During the
Second World War, he
served as a telegraphist with
the Royal Canadian Navy.
He was a longtime employee
of the Combustion Engineer-
ing Company and formerly
had resided in Edmonton be-
fore moving to Selkirk in
June. Harry `was an active
member off the Boilermakers
Union, Lodge No. 359, and a
member of the Royal Cana -

J. Melvin Carnochan, 77, of
Ethel, died Friday, October
12 at Listowel Memorial
Hospital.
Born in Grey Township in
1907, he was a son of the late
John Carnochan and the
former Annie Michael.
He farmed in Grey Town-
ship most of his life and op-
erated a backhoe and drain-
age business.
He was a member of St.
Alban's and St. David's
Anglican Church in Atwood.
He is survived by two
sisters, Mrs. Alex (Pearl)
Shaw, of Brussels, and Mrs.
Art (May) Rock, of Seaforth,
two stepdaughters, Mrs.
Olive Bolden and Mrs. Aud-
rey Cameron and one step-
son, Colen, McGregor, all of
Toronto, one sister-in-law,
Mrs. Mildred Hamilton, of
Listowel and several nieces
and nephews. -.
He was predeceased by his
first wife, the former Lillie
Voy Cods and his second
wife, fife former Agnes E.
Watson.
Friends were received at
the Peebles Funeral Home,
141 John St., Atwood, after 7
p.m. Saturday until Monday
when service and com-
mitment were held at 2 p.m.
Interment was in Elma
Centre Cemetery.
