Large crowd attends
Brussels dedication
More than 200 people
gathered at Brussels on
Sunday afternoon for the
dedication of the new church
auditorium erected this
summer by the Brussels
Mennonite Fellowship.
Those attending came
from the village and other
churches in the area and
included many of the
volunteers who had joined
with members of the
fellowship to help put up the
new building.
The dedication service
opened with a trumpet solo
by Steve Shantz of Elmwood.
Larry Sider of Atwood, one
of the elders of the
congregation, was worship
leader and called on a
number of persons to bring
greetings.
Dale Bauman, represent-
ing the Mennonite Confer-,
ence of Ontario and Quebec,
brought greetings on 'behalf'
of the conference, followed
by Sam Shantz, the general
contractor who had directed
and coordinated the building
effort, and Linda Garland,
chairman of the Brussels
Mennonite Fellowship
church council.
Pastor Doug Zehr's
message was, "Time to
sample •our earth". Basing
his remarks on the parable
off the sower, he pointed out
that our response to the
gospel message depends on
what kind of "earth" we are,
whether hardened, stony,
choked With weeds or fertile
and receptive.
1
The service concluded
with a dedication litany by
the whole congregation,
followed by a time of
fellowship and refreshments
in the basement of the new
wing.
