have been doing some
paintings about things the
children wanted to do now or
in the future. They also made
some rocky -road candy in
cooking class, which was
enjoyed.
Fred and Barney, their •
two mischievous gerbils,
were feeling a little hungry
so they tried to eat their
water bottle. It resulted in
Miss Buist having to borrow
. a water bottle. Each student
gets a chance to look after
the gerbils for a week at a
time. ' These duties include
changing 'the water 'and
bringing treats from home.
Everyone is working on
booklets about themselves.
The class also is reading
Puff the Magic Dragon.

B & T Bookies win
luevale tournament
By Peter Bauer
The Wingham 13 & T
Bookies.. captured the
championship title at the
Bluevale Sow pitch tour-
nament last weekend. The
club was undefeated, win-
ning three games on the field
and an important flip -of -the -
coin bye.
Excellent defensive work
and strong bats powered the
team to the championship.
In their first • game the
Bookies simply overpowered
a listless squad' from Ford-
wich, recording a 16-0 rout
over their rivals in five in-
nings. The Bookies picked up
three runs in the first and
second innings, adding two
in the third. They continued
the attack by picking up six
runs in the fourth inning and
two more in the fifth.
Kevin Good and. Gord
Marr swung hot bats, each
having identical three -for -
four performances at the
plate. Good drove in two
runs, while Marr had one
RBI. Jim McCarthy also had
a good game at the plate with
a ' three -run homerover the
MRS. WILLIAM SOTHERN
left field fence. He was two -
for -three with four- RBIs.
Tom Miller's consistency
on the mound helped the
defence as he found the plate
regularly.
In the second game, the
Bookies downed the Western
Foundry by a 16-8 margin.
Carl Good, Daryl Walker and
Blair Leibold each went
three -for -four at the plate
with a' combined RBI total of
fou;:. Eric Good also helped
offensively and there was
another strong showing by
McCarthy.'
After taking an 8-0 lead the
Bookies saw that cut in half
as the Foundry struck for
four runs in the third inning.
But they bounced) back after
a scoreless third and fourth
inning to pick up four runs in
the fifth, two in te sixth and
two more in the eventh.
Dwayne Letteau hit a two -
run homer over the left field
fence just beyond the reach
of Ken MacCormack to
provide the big highlight for
the Foundry squad.
In the championship game
the Bookies defeated the
