Closing time 11:30 P.1. :011" after lengt. .S' Following a lengthy illness, Leslle 4,a McMinn of.78 Patrick *mkt West, Wing lam, passed away at Huronview, Clinton, on Saturday, September 8.,, - Hewes in his 69th year. Born in Shallow Lake on January 4, 1916, Mr. McMinn was a son of the late John McMinn and Sara Malloy. After reaching adulthood, he farmed in the Palmerston area for several years before moving to Wingham in 1960. While living in this area he was employed as custodian at F. E. Madill Secondary School and Howick Central School. He was an adherent of the Salvation Army. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, the former Lorna Baylor, whom he married in June of 1943 in Culross native dies in hospital Passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Thursday, September 13, Mrs. Ethel M. Hendry (Colvin), formerly of Wild; ser. Mrs. Hendry was the daughter of the late Robert Colvin and Christeena- McKenzie of Concession Two., Culross. • Surviving are her husband, J. L. Hendry of London; one sister, Mrs. Stanley (Kathleen) Bishop of Detroit; one brother, John G. Colvin, and his wife Gladys of Teeswater; also several nieces and nephews and great nieces and a great nephew in the area. She was predeceased by a son Douglas (1972) and a sister Elda (1971). ' The funeral was held Saturday, September 15, at the MacPherson Funeral Chapel, Teeswater, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. R. Shaw of Knox Presbyterian Church, Teeswater. Interment followed in Teeswater Cemetery where she was carried to her final resting place by Mr. Shaw, two 'nephews, Bob and Bradley Colvin, and Larry Fischer. VINCENT—Grant and Cindy Vincent of Belgrave are pleased to announce the arrival of their first child at the Wingham and District Hospital on September 12. Cole Albert weighed eight pounds, three ounces. Ns WIER—Passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, London, on Saturday, September 15, James Thomas John Wier, R.I.A., of 232 Sherwood Ave., London, in his 69th year. A former resident of the Wingham area, Mr. Wier is survived by his wife, the former June Kneale; two daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Victoria) Elliott of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Mrs. John (Susanne) David, Goose Bay, Labrador; and four grandchildren, Cindy, Gwen, Sean and Jeff. Dagg at Campbell's Bay, Quebec, last week were Mr.' and Mrs. Douglas Mc- Pherson, Mr. and Mrs. Rick McPherson, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Harkness'' and Gail McPherson. Mrs. Dagg was Mrs. Douglas McPherson's stepmother and the com- munity extends its sympathy to the McPherson family.. The whole school attended: A yellow and. white day was celebrated last week to represent the papal colors and to celebrate Pope John Paul Irs entry into Ontario. Kindergarten—We worked and played. The boys and girls played house and some were interested in cars and trucks. Grade 1 and 2—are busy getting organized in their new classroom. There are 17 in Grade 1 and 2. A special welcome is extended to Shannon Thynne who has returned to Sacred Heart in Grade 3. . Grade 3 and 4—Mrs. Ippolito, the new teacher, comes from Hamilton. She moved to Wingham three weeks ago. There are 12 Grade 3 students and 12 in Grade 4. She has six girls and 18 boys in her class. Ciara McKenna is still the only girl in hergrade. Grade 5 and 6—started -practising for cross country running. Grade 7 and 8—We had an election for students council.
