Tlie funeral of Alexander W. Sto-
bie, who for 57 years has been an
esteemed resident of Seaforth, took
place Saturday, to the- Maitlandbank
cemetery. The deceased was a mem-
ber of the Methodist church, chief of
the Sons of Scotland,and officer in
the Ancient Order of Foresters, and
a veteran of. the Fenian Raid. ' Mr.
Stobie was a produce merchant in
Seaforth for: many years, and "after
retiring from, business •filled the pos-
ition of market clerk, until about
a year agog when he was forc-
ed him to relinquish his duties.; ]Ie

Miss Katie Sanders gave an instru-

excellent paper on "Our Country's
Resources;" the: greatest of which
was her boys arid girls:. The them=
hers took part in community singing
and spent a pleasant half hour over
the lunch- Mrs. Ford was the"assist-
ing' hostess. The: nextmeeting will
