Mr. Thomas' Raney, dearly beloved
husband of Nellie Miller, formerly
NTiss Nellie Harris, died at his home
in I-libbert, oxx Sunday at 5 a.m. aged
77 years and 1 month. The deceas.
ed was born in Formangh, 'Ireland,
and came to Canada 'when quite
young, settling near Bend Beat!, lat-
er moving to Blyth. Froin there
he novecl to London where he resid-
ed for twenty years. Seven years
ago he was married to his' `bereaved'
widow and five years ago they mov-
ed to his wife's former home in I3U-
Bert. He was of a friendly disposi-

friends since coming here, who deep-
ly mourn his loss. fie was a chris-
tian limn of sterling character, the
kindest of husbands and the dearest

out for the concert that is to be put

churCh put on an entertainment in
the church on Thursday evening of
last week that was laugh provoking
from beginnig to end. It' was called
the Spinster's' Convention, the chief
object being to get a man. The cos-
tumes and make-up were very strik-
ing. tThe bachelors of town came in
for some pertinent .comments. Dur-
ing the evening the old maids were
run through a machine and turned
into handsome young ladies.
DIED IN.FULLARTON
.A very sad death occurred in Ful-
larton Tp. just at daybreak on Sun-
day morning last when Mrs. Edward
Ferguson Passed away at the age
of 36 years', 2 months and 8 days.
The deceased was taken ill the Fri-
day previous with heart trouble-. Her'
maiden name was Teressa Verda
Vesta Cann, being 'a daughter of Mr.
Charles Cann, of Exeter. She was
born in Usborne township and about
thirteen years ago was married to
her now bereaved husband who' -with.
a family of three small children, two
sons and one daughter, Laverne, Al-
vin and Irma Jean, survive. Four
sisters and one brother also survive,
Mrs. Geo. Dunn, of Usbornea Mrs.
John Passmore, of Hensall; 1VIrs.
Jas. Earl, of Zion; Mrs. Roy Mc-
Donald, of Chiselhurst and Orville
of Usborne. The funeral was held
Tuesday afternoon and a large num
ber paid their last tribute of re-
spect to the departed. The service
was conducted by Rey. Mr. Copeland
interment in the Kirkton cemetery.
The bereaved will have the sympathy
of many friends.
FIRE DII:STROYS 'HOME
WHILE FAMILY IS AT CHURCH
On Sunday morning last while Mr.
and Mrs. George Ferguson and their
two g\randeltildren were attending
church, fire broke out in their home

ing. Mr. John Stewart noticed smoke
issuing from the back kitchen and he
summoned the neighbors and was the
first to arrive on the scene. He was
quickly followed by several others.
They broke into the house and were

furniture. They were not able to get
into one rOom, everything in it being
destroyed. Mr. FerguCon and family
