When Don Sowerby rescued Bert McCabe from his burning house he wasn't thinking of receiving a medal for bravery. Last Friday, Sep- tember 21 at a presen- tation of award ceremony at Government House, Ottawa, Don Sowerby received a Medal of Bravery and scroll for this act of bravery in rescuing Bert McCabe from a burning building. Mr. and Mrs. Icon Sowerby and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jenkins of Colborne Township went to Ottawa to attend the presentation and they report a wonderful time was given them. They were really treated royally. After attending the award ceremony, they were guests at a luncheon at Government House where Governor General Ed Shreyer and other dignitaries mingled with the crowd which. included 29 people receiving Awards of Bravery from Nova Scotia to Vancouver Island.
