firmly in the realm of
international superstars.
She literally launched the
disco trend with the first
commercial disco single
"Never Can Say Good-
bye." Her album of the
same name was a
precedent -setting
bombshell. For the first
time, an album had been
programmed for non-stop
dancing, with one song
running smoothly into the
next without pause. It
became an instant hit at
discos everywhere.
Her following releases
including "Reach Out, I'll
Be There" and her latest
"I Wil Survive" plus a
succession of albums
achieved world-wide
success. She is now in
such constant demand
that she spends nearly
half her time touring the
globe.

Risk Nelson comes
to London's fair
Recording, television
and film star Rick Nelson
has been booked for two
shows- at ,the Western
Fair grandstand on
September 12.
Rick is one of a mere
handful of entertainers
who have„sustained their
popularity through the
numerous musical trends
that have occurred since
rock 'n' roll emerged in
the mid -fifties.
His debut into show
business came in 1948
when he joined his
parents' radio show,
"The Adventures of Ozzie
and Harriet.” In 1952 the
show moved to television
fora 14 -year run.
Nelson's early
recording hits including,
"I'm Walkin' ", "A
Teenager's • Romance"
(which sold over a million
copies,) "Hellow Mary
Lou", "Stood Up" and
"Travellin' Man" will be
well remembered in
addition to more recent
releases like "Garden
Party."
During the early six-
ties, Nelson established
himself as an artist who
could work successfully
with a variety of music
from blues to raw
rockabilly, and in 1966
and L967 he recorded two
classic country albums, a
further demonstration of
his versatility.
Touring with his Stone
Canyon Band, Nelson
averages over 100 dates a
year at colleges, fairs,
night clubs and rock
concerts, generating
enthusiastic applause
and standing ovations
wherever he goes.
Grandstand shows
starring Rick Nelson on
Wednesday September 12
at 7 and 9 p.m. are free to
Western Fair visitors.
