French won the series opener 13-2 and will now advance to the 'league semi-finals against' Canada Company. French' wasted no time grabbing the first of their half dozen runs.' Ron Klages started the game with a single, stole second, and moved to third on a throwing error. on Bill Gallow's hit. George Sutton singled Klages•, in and moved Gallow around with a single. Gallow scored on a fielder's choice to Phil Turner. Ziebart made it a new game in the bottom of ,the inning when Greg Hansen tripled and Rick Duck- worth drilled a shot over the fence to even things up. French went right back to scoring runs in the second when Ray Klages singled .to start the in- ning. Klages' moved to second on a sacrifice by Wayne Kennedy and moved to third on an error that left Rob Standen at first. Standen moved to second an a wild• pitch and Klages scored on an error that moved Standen over. He scored on a sacrifice by Ron Klages. French added two insurance runs in the fourth when Ray Klages and Kennedy • singled. Klages scored and Kennedy moved around on an error and Ron Klages lofted •a sacrifice fly to score Kennedy. a. Pee Wees win The Goderich tegion Pee Wees stage.d a dramatic come from behind one run victory over Dashwood recently to win a berth in the second round of WOAA playoffs. Goderich scored the winning' run in the bottom of the seventh with two out to earn the playoff berth. Goderich scored big in the late innings to erase a four run deficit in the fifth and move into the lead. Dashwood jumped to an early lead scoring twice -in their first trip to the plate but Goderich responded with three runs in the bottom of the ' inning to erase that ean. Dashwood tied' the game in the second inning and scored four in the fourth to take a 7-3 lead. In the top of the fifth they added three more and started what looked like a rout building up a 10-3 edge. ' The Goderich bats came alive and along with some tighter defence the Pee Wees rallied to get in the game and stay in it. In -the sixth Goderich sent eight batters to the plate and came away with five runs. Needing two for a win Dave Almasi drew a walk for the first base runner. Richard Bedard sacrificed to move him into scoring position and McCallum hammered a " triple to tie the Score. Our next two -ball party will be held 'on Monday,'September'3 at 4 p.m. Bob Greer won low gross on men's night with Dirk Wolterbeek winning low net. First flight winners were Stan Connelly; Tony Bedard, Ralph Schefter, Mark Lassaline. _.Second flight was won. by Bill Thom- pson, Steve Doak, Bill Yungblut and Greg Beacom. Third flight winners.were Jim Green, Mike Donnelly, Ray Cook and Ron Bushell. McGe dumps Fisher for win McGee k Pontiacs out- scored Fisher Custom Builders 22-4 in two games to win the teams' best of three Industrial league semi-final two games to one. Fisher won the series' opener 4-3, lost the second game 11-3 and the third 11-1. The wins move McGee into the Dunlop division finals and ,league semi- finals a8ainst Gord's Sports. Down one game .IvlcGee's unloaded some home run power in •re– late innings to ttirn.a 5-3 game into a 11-3 rout. Fisher had posted a two run edge in the first using singles by Doug Fisher, Jack MacKinnon and Jim Durst for the scores. That lead stood until the McGee third when John Phillip connected for a single, moved around on a single by Ken Daer and scored on a sacrifice by Clare Harman. In the fourth Russ Pruder tripled and scored on a single by Deb Shewfelt to close the gap to.•one..In the fi-fthsingles by Clare Harman and Doug Spitzig and two Fisher- l istakes allowed McGe'u- score three and move into a 5-2 lead. Thi ilders got one of those back in the bottom of the inning when MacKinnon ripped a triple and scored on a Pontiac error. - The stixthi.nning spelled disaster for the Builders. John PhiFlip stepped into a two run homer to boost the Pontiac lead to four runs and Ron Sowerby powered a Paul Corriveau pitch over the fence for a.10-3 lead. Rick Sowerby scored the final Pontiac run in the seventh. Ken Daer went the distance for the Pontiacs giving up five hits and striking out five. Doug Fisher was the loser giving up seven hits. Paul Corriveau gave up five hits, including both home runs., in relief of Fisher. ... • Back to ,back home runs in the second inning were all the Pontiacs needed in the .third and final game of the set. The •Builders scored in the first when MacKinnon used an error to get on and scored on a single by Barry Block. The Pon- tiacs., got two quick runs in the second with home runs by Ken Daer and Ron Sowerby to take a lead they never - relinquished. In the fourth Daer walked and scored on a double by Doug Spitzig. Spitzig came in on Ken Meriam's single to make it 4-1. McGee scored six in the fifth"'and two in the sixth for the berth in the semi-finals. Daer was the winner in the third game giving up four hits and fanning three.
