Bim, Bom, Boom.
The family clown trio
delighted over 300
children in the GDCI
auditorium,. Friday with
a fine routine that
blended slapstick,
acrobatics, mime,
juggling and plain good
fun.
The GDCI auditorium
was filled with laughter
and even parents enjoyed
the finely honed act.
The Huron County
Library sponsored the
show, one of many stops
for , the trio on their
current tour of Canada.
Bim, Bom and Boom
are played by Akdp
Ouzounian, his
wife,Maria and son,Jan.
The family trio were star
clowns in the world-
famous moscow Circus
and between them have
over 44 years, of‘ service
with the Moscow group.
Akop began working in
the Moscow circus soon
after World War.II, after
his family settled in
Armenia. He attended the
Central Studio of Circus
Arts and was featured in
the ring with his wife and
later his son.
The family now has
over 40 years experience
between them and Akop
was awarded ,the title .
Artist Emeritus. The
Ouzounians have now
- made Canada the)r home
since 1977 and live in
Edmonton.
Their current tour
began in Vancouver and
they have been travelling
and playing almost daily
in their trek east. This
tour is labelled Super-
-show and is sponsored.by
.the Canada Council for
the International Year of
The Child celebrations.
The Ouzounians also
hold workshops for
students and teachers in
elementary and,, senior
grades and have- con-
ducted university level
workshop3. They 'have
also worked television
shows and professional
theatre productions.
Rocky Raccoon tells of
scrapbook contest
Hello kids!
It's Rocky Raccoon and
I want to tell you about
something that directly
involves you! It's the
Maitland Valley Con-
servation Authority's
scrapbook competition.
The Authority chooses
the schools and they are
rotated each year to
enable every school a
• chance to participate in
it. Each school ' is
provided -7. with the
scrapboks and the
resources by the
Authority. Many in-
teresied students write
away for more in-
formation on their topic.
The topics 'chosen in-
' elude: Fisheries and
Wildlife Management;
Forestry Management;
Air and Waste
Management;
Recreation; , Soil
• Management and, Water
Management.
• Each child- works •in-
dividually, on their
scra-pbook and to be
eligible for a prize, 20 of
the 28 pages must be
filled. The teac.her
chooses the best five from
•their class and submits
them to the Authority to..
be judged by three
Authority members and
the staff.
This year the judges •

Miss Beverley Hoegy of.
