Each Cub had to make his own "kar" to measurement for racing from a kit containing a block of wood and four wheels. Auditions were held in London, Goderich, and Grand Bend during April. • James Murphy, Artistic Director of the Playhouse and director of The Sound of Music, has offered roles to the following young people: Steve Paton, Kirkton, will play the eldest son, 14 -year-old Friederich; Lisa Cain, Sarnia, will play 13 -year-old Louisa; the role of 11 -year-old Kurt goes to Jeff Greenwood of Parkhill; Mary Margaret Murphy, Goderich will ta,ke.on the role of nine-year-old Btigitta; from Grand Bend, Jennifer McCrindle will play seven-year-old Marta; five-year-old Gretl yvill be played by Myvonney Godwin from. Parkhill, Yet to be' announced is the eldest Von Trapp girl, 16 -year-old Liesl: Murphy said, "It was a difficult decisionto reach since so • many of the youngsters are talented, I think we have succeeded in getting together six talented boys and girls who can pass as a family. I'm looking forward to working with these bright young people. "Performing is," he emphasized to the young people, "a great deal' of work - ten percent in- spiration and 90 percent perspiration - as the saying goes." "I hope the other children who ' also auditioned but who did not get parts .will not be discouraged. Inter- ' national Year of the Child seems the appropriate time to produce a show with opportunities for children," he said. The Sound of Music goes into rehearsal on August 6. It opens on August 22 and runs through September 1 at the Playhouse in Grand Bend. Seniors Week June 17 24 The residents of H,uronview, along with senior citizens of Ontario, will celebrate Senior citizens week from June 17-24. The committee of management of Huronview has declared open house for the week and invites all senior citizens to come and join in the programs.
