Inverness Camp honored
Robert Burns' memory at
the British Exchange.
Mayor James Wilson in
January gave his
inaugural address to the
new council, and A. McD.
Allan gave a talk on
apples to the first winter
meeting of the Hor-
ticultural Society.

grain warehouse, burned
at the corner of Nelson
and Victoria.
The Signal described
the site as "the old show
grounds." Earlier, it was
the town's first cemetery.
The account, published
February 8, is as follows:
"Fire destroyed
George Bisset's
storehouse on the old
show ground, with 3,000
bushels of wheat
belonging to Mayor
Wilson and $350 worth of
evaporated apples
belonging to Beck &
Goldthorpe. The fire
removes what was for
many years a landmark
of the town, the old St.
Andrew's Church, which

Attempts to identify
George Bisset, the
warehouse man, have so
far failed completely,
through all usual sources
have been searched as
well as some unusual.
