Children's Workshop holds bazaar and bake sale
About 300 persons
attended tte„first bazaar
and bake sale of the
Children's Workshop held
in the Auburn Com-
munity Memorial Hall
last Saturday afternoon.
The bake table was in
the charge off Mrs. Sandy
Andrews, Mrs. Barry
Millian and Lori, Mrs.
Ian Clark , Mrs. George
Hebert and Janice Daer.
Mrs. William Andrews
and Mrs. James
Schneider were the
cashiers. Angela
Schneider served coffee
and pop. Todd Andrews
was in charge of selling
tickets. Potted plants
were in the charge of
Julie Daer, and Debbie
Scott; lawn ornaments -
Bobby Robertson; and
rocking chairs and
wheelbarrows - Brent
Andrews.
Winner of the rocking
horse, drawn by Ian
Andrews, was Mrs. Ben
Brown of R.R. 6 Goderich
and rocking horse ticket
drawn. by Michael
Schneider was won by
James Glousher.
Articles left over will
be on display and for sale
at Schneider's Hardware
store.
The committee in
charge are very grateful
for all th��qq,,��e who donated,
attende'nd gave their
support. It was very
much appreciated. The
coloring contest was in
the charge of Mrs. Ann
St. Jean. Colour the
parade winners were -

Deveau, age four, Debbie
Scott 12 years (tied),

third prize - Don Gross -
four years.

their meeting in the
Auburn Community.

in attendance. Lion Don
Haines won the dinner
raffle.

Fred Pottle of Goderich
was the winner of the 50-
50 draw.

It was announced that
work will begin soon on
the baseball lights.

OBITUARY
The sympathy of this
community is,extended to
the family of the late Mrs.
Charles Robinson of
Wingham formerly of the
Donnybrook district. She
was the former Katherine
McClinchey and was born
in this district.
She was in her 87th
year and passed away in
Wingham and District
hospital on April 20.
She is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. Hebert
(Jean) Dainty of
Petawawa and Mrs.
Douglas (Irene) Williams
of London; two sons,
Gordon Robinson of
Wingham and Edward
Robinson of R.R. 2
Auburn; 13 grand-
children; eight great-
grandchildren; two
sisters, Mrs. Charles
(Esther) Potter of
Parkhill and Mrs.
Charles (Iona) Jefferson
of Clinton; and two
brothers, Gordon
McClinchey of Blyth and
Sidney McClinchey of
R.R. 1 Auburn.
The funeral services
were held -at the Currie -
Walker Funeral Home on
Monday with burial in
Wingham cemetery. '

The annual meeting of
the Auburn Women's
Institute was held last
`Tuesday. in the Com-
munity Memorial Hall
and began with a
"smorgasbord dinner with
Mrs.. Tom Haggitt, Mrs.
Gordon Chamney, Mrs.
Lillian Letherland and
Mrs. Frank Raithby in
charge.
The president, Mrs.
Eleanor Bradnock,
welcomed everyone and
the Women's Institute
Grace was sung.
After the' bountiful
dinner, Mrs. Hugh
Bennett introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs.
Graham McNee of
Dungannon, Huron -West
.District president. She
brought greetings and
her topic was, The Trend
of the Times.
Mrs. Thomas Haggitt
thanked her and
presented her with a gift.
Mrs. Lillian Letherland
gave a reading, Ring
Easter Bells.
The meeting was
opened with the Ode, the
Mary Stewart Collect and
O Canada with Mrs.
Catherine Jackson at the
piano.
The munutes were
accepted as read by -the
secretary, Mrs. Robert
Peck. She also gave the
financial statement.
Mrs. Donald Cart-
wright reported on the 9-

H work and invited all to
the Achievement evening
on May 7 in Hullett
Township Central school.
Mrs. Frank Raithby
reported on the labels and
requested all to save
Maple Leaf and York
labels to buy equipment
for the hall kitchen.
Mrs. Lillian Letherland
reported on cards sent
and read the thankyou
notes received.
Mrs. Thomas Lawlor
reported on the work
done on the W.I. float for
the 125th birthday party.
It was decided not to
have a dinner in May and
all were asked to get
articles ready for
Achievement Night on
May 24 at Wingham for
the needlepoint course.
The members voted to
make the curator Mrs.
Thomas Haggitt, a
member of the Huron
County Historical
Society.
Delegates were chosen
to attend the Huron -West
District meeting at
Holmesville on May 28.
Gifts will be made for
the sale at the district
annual.
An interesting display
was shown of crafts,
beautiful quilts, afghans,
needlepoint pictures,
pillows and other articles
made by the members
during the winter mon-
ths. Many members
spoke on their crafts.
The roll call • was an-
swered by the paying of
fees.
Mrs. Bradnock thanked
all ` for their support
during the past years and
the annual reports were
'received.
