PLASTIC REFILL 99¢ 11/2 -qt ONLY SAUCEPAN with cover NO OTHER PURCHASE REQUIRED ji ridge needs repairs Ken Dunn of B.M. Ross Associates, Goderich, informed Colborne Township Council that due to the water level at the Benmiller River Mill Bridge, it was not possible to do a full in- spection of the bridge foundations. The cement deck was poured between and above steel beams. The steel beams and steel re -enforcement was badly rusted. There were no serious cracks except where a curb had been poured and at an ad- ditional cement slab at the south end. • The condition of the whole structure indicated a short life. There were no plans of the structure. Mr. Dunn indicated that a load limit of the bridge would be approximately 11 - 12 tons with in- spection every two years. The broken wingwall was discussed and a replacement cost of $28,000 given. Dunn stated` that a new wingwall could be built that could be in- corporated in a new bridge.• at a future date. Dead end anchors would cost $9,000 - $10,000 and would, be of no use for a new structure. Council decided that legal advice should be obtained. Mr. Dunn recommended that 'Council apply to the Ministry of Tran: sportation and Com- munication for a $30,000 supplementary subsidy for this bridge. Council discussed the specifications of a new grader for the township._._ with Laverne Culbert of Champion Grader Sales. Prices of various grader equipment and warranty, tire size, extras for larger tires were outlined. Council was given a list of marked extra equipment for a grader which at CoWIC -il'-s- decision ._sheuld...._—_._.._._; be -contained in the tender. • Council approved a motion that the Clerk apply to M.T.C. for a supplementary subsidy of $85,000. for the purchase of a new grader.. and.. $30,000. for the replacement of the wingwall to the Benmiller River Mill access road bridge. TO STUDY BUDGET At the March 20 meeting the accountant gave each member of Council a copy of the proposed 1979 township budget to study before next councir meeting on April 3. April 7 was set for the council inspection of the township roads. The John Feagan Municipal Drain By -Law and a tile drainage loan were approved by council. The Auburn 125th birth- day committee received permission to use the Huron County Lot of the Maitland River flats at Auburn (Colborne Township) for their celebration June 29 and June 30, 1979. This was ap- proved by council. Reeve Bill Bogie and council members present gave a short review of the proceedings at the R.O.M.A. conference and the Good Roads Con- vention which they had' attended.
