The Goderich Signal-Star, 1979-04-05, Page 9Residents of the Clinton area have been treated to a
rare sight recently, as white whistling swans have
stopped here on their way to mating grounds in
Manitoba. The birds have delayed their flight
north, seeming to have the uncanny ability to know
their nesting ground Is still in the icy grip of winter.
This flock was pictured in a field, a mile out of'
Clinton on the Bayfield Road. (photo by Steve

in hopes that smokers

I am your slave!
You are. closer tome
than any living creature.
You repose. in my
pocket just over my
heart.
With my lis I caress'
you more than I do all the.
members of my family.
When I awake I turn to
you and follow you all day
long.
I worship,at your shrine
with burnt offerings at
constant intervals.
On my desk the fires
seldom go out on your
altar.
I call on you for help
more than I call on my
Creator.

In parting, I would like

my personal thoughts and

We must continue to
pursue those ideals which
have inspired us for so
many years.
We ,must not cast aside
the cultural heritage of
our forefathers.
We must continue the
struggle for racial un-

operation. We must
ensure that no race shall
be despised, no religion
held in contempt, no

of ethnic origin.
We must strengthen
such instruments as the

Evalu.ation of
preliminary information

at Three Mile Island
nuclear plant near
Harrisburg, Penn-

cause for concern about
the safe operation of
Ontario nuclear 'plants,
Hydro Chairman Robert
Taylor said last week.
Substantial differences
exist between the reactor
design and control
system of Ontario
Hydro's CANDU stations
and the American plant.
"One fundamental
difference," Taylor said, ,
"is the vacuum con-
tainment system in the

immediately draw in any
leak of steam or
radioactivity and prevent
it from escaping to the
outside environment.
"If a familiar series of
malfunctions did occur at
a Hydro nuclear station,
the public would be
protected by our defense-

Taylor said.
Taylor said a complete

the Three Mile Island
accident will be made by
