the many problems faced
by churches today, one of
the biggest of these
problems being poor
attendance. He told the
laymen present at the the
conference from
Goderich, Windsor, Owen
Sound, Kitchener, Sarnia,
Brantford and other
towns in between, how
they could work within
the church to improve it.
He also suggested that
the churches become
more involved .in helping
senior citizens.

M & W Motors plans move
Goderich area planning
board learned Tuesday
night it would be asked to
give approval to a car lot
to be located on Huron
Road in Goderich just
east of the train tracks
near the town's boun-
dary.
Nick Hill, a planner for
Hi"11 and Borgal,
presented the board with
a proposal for M&W
Motors to establish a
sales lot, showroom ands,
service area on property
on Huron Road near Mill
Road, Hill presented
plans for the project to
board members asking
that the board look at the
proposal and. consider its
approval at the board's
April meeting. He said
the property in question
is now designated in-
dustrial and zoned
developmental and the
board 'would have to
designate it commercial
and zone it highway
commerical. Hill pointed
out that the land directly
across the street from the
subject property was all
zoned highway com-
mercial.
Bi uc,e McPhee,.
spokesman for M&W, told
the board the .firm
wanted to relocate from
its East Street location to
""Lake advantage of
greater traffic flow on
Huron , Road. He added
that according to the•
town's official plan the.
firm's present location
was a legal non-
conforming use and if a
fire destroyed the
business it could not
rebuild on that site.
"We don't want to be in
.the position where we're
in business one day and
not the next," said
McPhee.
Board member Ken
McGee, a principal of
McGee Motors,'asked the
board if he had a possible
conflict .of interest.
McGee said his in-
volvment in McGee
Motors may make things
difficult When it came
time to make a decision
adding he has been
"down this road before
and I want to be on the
safe side".
Board chairman Tom
Jasper said he could see
no conflict of interest. He
said if McGee was to
receive no financial
benefit from the project
there would be no reason
for him not to participate
in the board's decision.
