Intensity evident as chess club nears
The intensity of the
battle for positions in-
creases as time is run-
ning out being that there
is only three weeks left
until the play-offs begin.
Dale Erb,9, proudly displays the pennant he won in the Zone T bowling
playoffs in Owen Sound on the weekend. Dale won the bantam boys single§
championship with a 538 triple hilighted by a 204 single. He will now par-
ticipate in the provincial playoffs in Toronto, March 18. (photo by Dave
Sykes)
Bob _Williams reflects back 12 years when a phot was taken after he bowleda
408 single in league play. Bob must be getting better as he rolled an im-
pressive 918 single in league play this year. He had 10 strikes before missing

Suns close gap on Big.Macs
The Suns played
exhibition hockey
Saturday • when they
hosted the Stratford "Big
Mac" Atoms. The "Big
Macs" are used to
"double A" competition
and give the Suns a
strong challenge on
which to test their own
offense. At their last
meeting the Big Macs
won 7-2 'and completely
dominated the play while
Saturday's game was a
much closer contest that
ended" in a 4-1 win for
Stratford.
The' Suns were able to
keep thl Macs to one goal
in the first period despite
a determined attack by
the Stratford Boys. The
Big Macs ran their lead to
two goals early in the
second period - and then
Goderich answered with
a very pretty goal -Kevin
Talbot dug the puck out
from the corner and
snapPed a quick pass
across the goal mouth
and Scott Garrow was
there to cut off the pass
and flip it over the
Stratford goalie.
The goal seemed to
give the Suns new life as
they had narrow misses
on several good chances.
Stratford scored twice in
the last half of the game
to go home 4-1 winners.
The Suns see action
next in the first game of
the W.O.A.A. - double B
championship series
against Hanover. Game
time is 6:30 p.m.
Saturday.
