Essex St. Regent Mrs:
R.' Neville opened the
meeting. The flags were
presented , by . Mrs.
C. R of fell.
The secretary Mrs. R.
Cunningham read the
minutes and the
treasurer Mrs. H.
Sampson gave her report.
A report on calendars
placed in the nursing
homes was given and a
letter approving the safe-
keeping ,in Huron County

Tax breaks subtle
Many people do not
take full advantage of the
tax deductions and
credits to which they are
entitled, when preparing
their 'income tax returns,
according • to Henry
Mitchell of Tax Time
Services in the Suncoast
Mall.
One item that is per-
tinent to the Goderich.
area is the Ontario
Property 'fqx Credit as it
applied to people living in
trailer parks, and paying
both rent and taxes.
In computing their
occupancy cost, they
have the option ' of
claiming 20 percent of the
total of the rent and taxes
paid, or 100 percent ,of the
taxes. Both options are
subject to a maximum of
$180.
_For instance, a person
paying $600 rent and $100
taxes could claim 20
percent of $700 which is
$140 or $100 taxes;
naturally you would
claim the $140.
However, a 'person
paying $600 rent and $180
taxes could claim 20
percent of $780, which is
$156 or $180 taxes; in this
case you would claim
$180.
A letter concerning the
'badges' was sent to the
National president. By-
laws, drawn -up, were
read by, Mrs. G. Hen-
derson and a short
•
discussion followed.
Annual reports were
given and all were
adopted as read.

Mac's Milk, which
.opened for business here
'on Bayfield Road early in
December, held its grand
opening for three days
last week.
The manager -dealer of
this convenience store is
21 -year-old John Grace, a
native of Goderich..1 is
one of the youngest
manager -dealers the
company has ever had to
his knowledge and for
awhile his age held up the
decision to give him the
contract for the
-dealership.
But Grace does not feel
that his age will prove a
problem. So far things
have been running
smoothly at the store and
business has been
building up slowly.
Grace had had two
years of experience
working in a grocery
store for the Hudson's
Bay Company in Nor-
thern Ontario previous to
his Mac's Milk jnh.
He found life in Nor-
thern Ontario rather
isolated and when •an
opportunity for the Mac's
Milk dealership arose in •
Goderieh, he decided to -
apply for it. He admits he
was surprised when he
got the dealership
because at the time he
was only 20 -years -old and
he felt this factor might
go against him.
.A dealership is almost
like having your own,.
business, he explains. He
is paid on commission of
sales.
He puts in a lot of long
hours but says he doesn't
really_ mind. Thesto re..is-
. open from 7 a.m. to
midnight seven days a
week and he has a staff of
two full-time and one'
part-time workers plus
himself.
Grace reels happy to be
back inthetown where he
was born and raised and
he also feels fortunate in
having the opportunity to-
work here.
Welcome home John
Grace.
