Eight contestants competed but three were chosen •to go to the Goderich Legion to cam pete. The contestants were: Linda Hunter, who said Hi. Captain Cornet, My name is Debbie Draper and I will be' 5 years old on February 15. I live at R,R. 3 Goderich with my mom and dad. Brian and Judy, and my baby brother Billy who is only two months old. her speech on Mother Goose: Mike Howe, Gerbals; Susan Murphy, Jepan; Cindy Todgham, elevators: Lisa Buechler, stamps: Jo Anne Moore, dolls; Norman McLean, hockey; Mark Rittinger, dogs. The judges were Mrs. Ruth Shaddick, Harold Knisley and Mrs. Dorothy Wallace who all thought the speeches were done well. The judges picked the two winners, Jo -Anne Moore and Mike• Howe and the runner-up was Mark Rittinger. Congratulations! PROJECT CANADA For the past few months M'rs. Pare's Grade 5 and G ,class has been exchanging letters, different projects and tapes with a Grade 5 and 6 class taught by Mrs. Tate ill the town of Mannville, Alberta, This exchanging of different things is a part of Project Canada. The children send letters to certain people telling about themselves, their hobbies and their families. The children are allowed to continue writing Letters back and forth after the year is over. It'sgroat fun for both students and teachers. I would like to join your SENIOR SPEECHES birthday club. • On February 8 senior Love, speeches were heard in Debbie the auditorium. Competing were Kim Fritzley, Heather Dear Captain Comet: My name is Trish Currie and I will be six - years -old on Monday, February 19. I live with my parents Doug and Gail Currie and my brothers Ray, Shawn and Bryan.. I would like to say happy" Birthday to my classmate and birthday twin, Abby Smallwood who will also be six on February 19. We are both students in the afternoon kindergarten class , at Robertson Memorial Public School. Thank you Captain Comet. Mr. Knisley said, "It was very hard to judge because each person knew her speech well and also had experience." But after difficult judging Kim Fritzley and Joanne Harrison were chosen to go to the Legion and Liz Bundy was runner-up. Kim's topic was Child Abuse, Joanne spoke on The Baby of the Family and Liz chose Styles. Good luck at the Legion. CONTEST Mrs. Brown's class has been studying dinospurs. The Royal Ontario Museum is having a contest about. dinosaurs. The grade 2 class made a collage and entered it in the contest. The collage was a group of pictures about dinosaurs called "The Terrible Lizards." The -winning entries" will be shown in the theatre at the museum. SPORTS The senior basketball .games begun. The Falcons are inthe lead, winning Falcons. theyhave played so far.
