ALPHA Huron
praises facilities
at Suncoast Mall
Accessibility to the
handicapped is not
always usability by the
handj,capped. Alpha
Huron has been
preaching this since its
inception.
The members were
made aware of this at a
meeting held in Clinton
Public School.
President Pat Watson
noted that the sanitary
facilities for the han-
dicapped at Suncoast
Mall in. Goderich are
installed to one side of the
cubicle. This enables a
wheelchair person to pull
alangside and use the
facility. If the facility is
centered, as it often is,
there is not usually room
to do this and it is not
usable.
In answer to a letter to
E.A. Starr, secretary -
manager of the Ontario
Plowmen's Association,
Alpha Huron was assured
that the lack of sanitary
facilities for the han-
dicapped at the 1978
International Plowing
Match would be brought
to the attention of the
supplier for future years.
Alpha Huron meets
next on Tuesday,
February 27 at 8 p.m. in
Brussels arena. All are
welcome.

Can we know • we
possess salvation?
Some think we cannot,
others feel that only
certain people may know.
Some say "We'll know
when we get there.
The devil delights in
keeping us uncertain
about our salvation. God
however through His
Word offers positive
assurance of eternal life.
The Gospel is God's
good news of a present
salvation for all who
believe or have personal
faith in the Lord Jesus as
Substitute, Lord and
Saviour. Assurance of
salvation comes in
receiving what God has
given, and by believing
what God klas said to all
who believe in His Word.
It is the good news of a
present salvation for
repentent, believing
inners as they are, here
and now. It was for this
purpose that God sent His
Son into this world. John
3:17 "For God sent not
His Son into the world to
condemn the world but
that the world through
Him might be saved."
Then how come there
,are those who declare
that no one can know that
he is saved?
We can be sure that if
one does not know it, that
it is not the purpose of
God, but is the, result of
God's Word being caught
in the web of unbelief and
becoming unprofitable.
What do we think the
Holy Spirit meant when
He caused the Apostle
Paul to write as he did in
Rom. 1:16? "For I am not
ashamed of the gospel of
Christ for it is the power
of God unto salvation to
everyone that-,belie.veth,
to the Jew first and also,
to the Greek."
Jesus Himself declared
in .Luke 19:1"0."F..or the c THE SALVATION ARMY
Son of Man is come to
seek and to save that
which was lost."
Praise. His name, for
many have heard,
believed and are saved.
The way of salvation is
by faith:
"It's strange we trust.
each other
And - only doubt our
Lord,
We take the word of
mortals,
And yet distrust His..
word.
But, oh, what bliss and
glory North Street United Church
..
Would shine o'er all our
days,
If we only would
remember
God means just what He
says."
When you believe God's
good news, the Gospel,
you are saved. Eph. 2:5:
"Even when we were
dead through our
trespasses, God made us
alive together with
Christ. By grace have ye
been saved." and in verse
8: "For by grace have ye
hien-5trved through faith;
and that no[ of your-
selves. It is the gift of
I
God, not of works, lest
God, of works,' lest
any man should boast."'
God has life for us, it is
a gift and we can receive
this gift by simply
believing His written
word.
John 20:31: "These are
written that ye might
believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God;
and that believing ye
might have life through
His name."
Now Christ will do no
more . for our salvation
than He has already
done, because there is
nothing more that He
needs to do. Heb. 7:25:
"Wherefore He is able
also to save them to the
uttermost that come unto
God by Him, seeing He
ever liveth to make in-
tercession for them."
If He failed to complete
our redemption He would
not be God, and to say
that the believer comes
into judgment for his sins
after death casts
dishonour upon the
redeeming work of
Christ. It would also be
contrary to scripture for
it is this that we are saved
from.
Salvation means to be
saved from judgment,
from the wrath of God to
conte. Eph. 2:5 "For it is
by grace, by favour and
mercy you did not
mercy you did not
deserve, that you are
delivered from judgment.
and made partakers of
Christ's salvation."
You see, the believer
escapes judgment
because it has already
been borne by the
Saviour 1 Peter 2:24:
"Who His own self bare
our sins in His own body
of the tree." and again in
John 5:24; "He that
heareth my word and
believeth on Him that
sent me hath everlasting
life and shall not come
into condemnation but is
passed from death unto
life."
Romans 8:1: "There is
now therefore no con-
demnation to them that
are in Christ Jesus."
are Christ Jesus."
Hebrews 10:17: "And
their sins and iniquities
will remember no more."
In -Rev. 14:13 we read:
"Blessed are the dead
which die in the Lord,
from henceforth, yea,
saith the Spirit, that they
may rest from their
labours and their works
do follow them."
Please note that the
stavedenter into rest, not
judgment and that their
works do not go before
thein to merit or open the
way, but follow, for good
works are the fruits or
results of our salvation.
Remember that we
cannot save ourselves,
that only Jesus can save,
that there is no other
-way.
'way.
Remember also that
one must be saved to
escape the wrath of God
which is to be poured out
upon the unbeliever who
must stand before God
and answer for every
wrong thing he has done
,in this life. •
To be without Christ
then is to stand con-
demned already,
awaiting trial . by none
other. than God, by God
who hates sin and who
will deal most 'severely
with it.
If you are not sure
where you stand with God
then find out quickly lest
you should die in your
sins and face God's
Judgment;
