As of Ma ':1 the only
thing Don McArthur of
R.R. 5 Goderich will have
to do with .telephones, is
making personal calls or
answering them when
they ring. 'On that date,
after :1;1 years and eight
months with Bell Canada,
he officially retires. •
On Friday, February 2
Mr. McArthur was
honored by L10 people at a
retirement party held at
the Goderich Legion Hall.
He was presented with a
gift of money and the
President's Wallet, a
traditional gift in the Bell
Telephone Company. He
was given a life mem-
bership in The Telephone
Pioneers of America as
well as a life membership
is part of the Bell system
now. •
At one time there were
many private phone
companys, recalls Mr.
McArthur. He rcmem•
bers the crank phones
well too. There was one in
Colborne Township as
late as 196:1, he says.
He moved to Goderich
in 15154 'working out of
here for Bell Canada's
Stratford district.
He remembers
when"one man used to do`
it all" from installing the
phones to repairing them
like -he did.
Forte last ten years,
Mr: McArthur has been -in
charge of cable repair
and maintenance, mostly
dealing with contractors
and construction workers
to protect existing
telephone cables. He has
in the Communication a pretty good idea where

Zyluk feels they gain a
real sense of satisfaction
in helping the students.
As Co-ordinator, Denise

Zyluk sees Denise's job
