The Suns edged
Walkerton Atoms in a
see -saw contest that
ended up 6-5 for
Goderich. The lead
changed hands several
tines ,as both teams
showed signs of weakness
in their defensive zone.
The Suns' defence were
caught out .of position
twice and on both oc-
casions Walkerton's
speedy captain, Danny
Dahrns made his shot
count. The " other
Walkerton goals came
when the Suns were
checked in their own end.
The offense for the Suns
was provided by Kelly
Allin, who scored the first
goal on a pass from Todd
Gilchrist. Walkerton
scored .twice to go ahead
early in the second
period. Then Walkerton
and Goderich alternated
scoring as Davey Jewell
scored five goals for the
Suns including the tying
goal with 4:15 to go in the
third period and the
winning goal a little over
a minute later. Todd
Jeffrey also earned an
assist. The Goderich
team showed great
persistence in staying
within one goal of the
leaders and by not
quitting when it seemed
like they were down. The
win insures Goderich a
first place finish in their
WOAA league and wraps
up the regular schedule.
